Can some one help? We have after 20 years decided to have a dog. The children are at a good age we feel 16, 15, 13 and 12. Hubby works from home and I work part-time. We all really enjoy out door life especially walking over the hills. SO with this in mind we set about reading about various breeds. Decided against terriers due to having 3 cats and 2 rabbits. Cocker spaniels were our choice. However on visiting a breeder with mum and grandmum present plus 3 puppies. 2 puppies from one litter and 1 from another [although there had been 9 & 5 puppies at one time] hubby was noticed to have been 'allergic' to the dogs. So we now are looking to what breed may suit us better or whether having a cocker is something hubby could get use too-he did with the cats. Does anyone have any suggestions, it would such a shame to have come this far too not finally get a dog.

Hi guest,
Not all terriers are as bad as you think, I know 2 who's owners decided to get a cat and the cat was introduced to the two dogs and they we eventually fine.
If you did decide that a terrier was ok to have, what about a Soft coated wheaten terrier? They are good family dogs whom LOVE children!! They are also good fun and very loving and best of all they don't moult and are recommended as one of the breeds for allergy suffers.
If you would like to know more a helpful website is.... www.wheaten.org.uk
There is everything that you need to know about puppies and all different things.
Have a look at them; they may be the ones for you! :)

What about a bedlington terrier, very loving, loyal and non casting, great for allergy sufferers.
I have 2 bedlie girls who are brilliant with the kids ( mine are 13 & 12 )and when we are out walking don't bother with cats ( not sure about rabbits ).
Good luck what ever you decide.
Kind regards,
Linda
Life is merrier with a bedlington terrier :-)
