We took Glazby to the Cotswold Wildlife Park yesterday and he loved it!!!  I thought it was a very dog-friendly place and we wandered round all day looking at all the wildlife there.

We were very impressed with their breeding records too - they've been very successful with some rare breeds.

Highlights of the day was at the Leopard enclosure - Glazby was having a look through the glass and the female Leopard came right up nose to nose (albeit with glass inbetween) with Glazby and was rubbing her head against the glass next to his - I think it may have been love!!!!  ;o)

Also something which surprised us - we went to look at the sheep at the Farm Corner and they came running over to Glazby and were poking their noses through the fence to try and rub noses with him!!  We thought that they may be used to humans but didn't think we'd see dog friendly sheep!!!  :D

It was a gorgeous day with the sun shining and at only £8 for an adult you can't really go wrong!!

Very good day out!!  :D

I'd recommend it for anyone looking to socialise puppies with all sorts of furries :)

Glazby wasn't too keen on the Tortoise - don't think he knew how to react so he had his bum in the air, face down between is paws, tail wagging and hackles raised barking his head off at them!!

I saw a keeper and apologised (thought I may get in trouble with an unruly dog) but he just laughed and pointed me in the direction of the Giant Tortoise saying "see what he makes of them"!!

The gardens are beautiful too - I'm looking forward to going back there next summer as it was just going over now but still beautiful.  :D

Thanks for this post.  Its not far from me so I might be inspired to go out this weekend.

For those of you who like Country Fairs, its the "big" (for Gloucestershire) Country Fair at Frampton on Severn on Sunday.

I am AMAZED :O that a wildlife park will allow dogs....never heard of such a thing.

It is a pretty chilled out sort of place and the dogs have got to be relatively well behaved which is more than can be said for some of the children you see there  :D:

I know exactly what you mean Lisa :). Some children shouldnt be allowed off a VERY short lead!
A few years ago I was working on a job at paignton Zoo for 2 days & as I had a young foxhound pup "on walk" I decided to take her with me as she was too destructive to leave at home without supervision. :(
I spoke to one of the managers who said it would be ok to park inside the zoo perimeter & leave her in back of landy whilst I worked. I couldnt believe the effect it had on her when those big cats yowled....she was genuinly terrified! i always thought the "no dogs" policy was because it would scare the animals.....but to be honest I now think its to protect the dogs!!!
