I was wondering if anyone knows of any Vets in the north of Scotland (or even all Scotland)who are good at doing X rays for hip scoring?
Have had problems with my vets as they are not used to doing them and I dont want to risk a bad score due to poor X rays. I have seen people recommended on champdogs but they all seem to be down south and would prefer someone a little closer. Would be grateful for any opinions.

I have a friend in Pethshire who has hips scored regularly. I've mailed her toask who she uses as I know she has always been pleased with them. Will let you know when she gets back to me

Have PM'd you
The vets in Kirriemuir do them regularly. I believe they do the Guide dogs. I usually get them to do mine. They also have Malcolm Davidson up regularly to do eye tests. I also know that the vets at Laurencekirk do hip scoring, too.

Thanks very much for your reply, it's good to find out which vets are competent at scoring. Eyes are not a problem as I can either go to Malcolm Davidson when he comes to Aberdeen or their is a Mr Wall at Inverness. But at least the vets who do eye tests are specialists in that area, whereas hip X rays can be done by any vet. I didnt realise till recently that badly taken X rays would lead to poor scores. Makes sense though, I am onto my third generation of dogs and I would be quite upset if I could not continue my line because of poorly taken plates. I only breed on a small scale and I dont keep more than one puppy at a time as I feel it's too much to cope with at once, also they would bond more with each other than with me. If I kept more than one to see how they turned out, I would not be able to let them go as by then I'm sure they would have become one of the family!
Thanks again for yor help, I have more choices now which is a bonus.

This set me thinking. Would an orthopaedic specialist be better at hip xrays? Seems logical that they would be but what do others think?

The scores seem to be taking such a long time to come back, I had my dog x rayed in July and the BVA havn't even looked at them yet? does anyone know if the panel sit at at regular intervals as I would take them just before they meet if I knew. The waiting is unbearable.
