My wife and I are looking for a Bernese pup as a pet. We live in a country town in Surrey in a large house with 4.5 acres, all lawn and woodland paths.
We have had dogs all our married life, starting with an Akita-ken in Japan, then we had a Shiba cross for 17 years that we rescued and who lived on 3 continents, and most recently we lost our beautiful Great Dane in February at the age of 10. Our children are early twenties but unmarried and frequently at home from University and medical school. They also love dogs and after a lot of thought we thought a Bernese would fit the bill but I have had great difficulty in even contacting any breeders, have had no reply from the Association and am thus hoping one of you may be able to offer advice or even an option on a litter, existing or to come. We would probably prefer a dog on balance but a healthy bitch would be very welcome also.
