I have been reading up on the breed history of SBT's and the greatest stud dog in our breed was a dog called Black Tusker who sired 16 champions and just wondered if another dog in another breed had beaten this (guessing they have). Would be interested to find out which dog or bitch in any breed has/had the highest rate of producing Ch's per litter if anyone knows that aswell just because I am boring and love finding out facts and figures!!!! Also from your own point of view who was the dog/bitch who had the biggest effect on your lines?

I am not sure who is the greatest stud dog in Am cockers ever, in the UK but would guess that Ambrose is well on his way to equalling it now, if he has not already done so. Will check up on numbers - are we only counting UK Chs or worldwide? Without doubt, the bitch who has had the most positive effect in the breed (in recent years anyway) is Am Ch Cashmere Matadors Last Dance wiht Afterglow (Choice) who was Ambrose's mum. She has an incredible amount of Ch offspring worldwide (6 from her USA litter) and in the UK produced Ambrose & Arrabella in her first litter (who both became Top Gundog, Arrabella 2 years running!) and then Prunella. As this bunch have already produced many CC/top award winners between them her effect is passing down the generations. Dexter is the top winning dog in the Breed (top dog all breed,s POTY & RBIS at Crufts, all one year!) and has produced 4 Uk chs, 2 USA, 1 Swedish & 1 IR. CH. However, he had to be retired fromm stud very early due to a back problem, so his stud career was quite short.

In Irish Setters it was Sh Ch Kerryfair Nightfever. He had 23 Sh Ch offspring 5 others with 2 CCs and a further 12 with 1CC. He was Top Stud in the breed for 10 years running and Top Stud all breeds 5 years in a row. He died in 1994 aged 14 1/2 years.

I am open to correction here but I believe that, in UK Boxers it would be Int.Ch. Seefeld Picasso who sired 18 Champions. In the USA it would be Ch. Bang Away of Sirrah Crest, the sire of 81 Champions.
'Bang away' lol, very apt! :D
childish I know
lol :D i thought the same thing :D

me too  :P
To get that many Champions I reckon he must have led a VERY active life, so the name is, indeed, appropriate :-). (You can buy undies with his name on the front from one of the Boxer organizations in the U.S. !!!)

Ch Ashgate Sinclair ( WHWT) has I think 18 UK champion children, 22 overseas Champions. 8 further cc winners.
Top Stud dog for 7 years from 93 -99
2003 saw 22 of his offspring whether children or grandchildren collect cc's
The other thing of interest is out of those greatest studs how many litters did
they produce. As some studs may not have sired many litters numerically but
in relation to the number of champions produced from the litters sired may be
actually higher in 'greatness' than the dog who has numerically more champions
because they sired more litters (hope I've made sense and not tied everyone in knots :D )
No, I know exactly what you mean as I was going to write something similar - the more pups a dog produces - if they are shown - the more chance they have of becoming champions and therefore more people will use them thus ensuring continuation of the cycle.
