My sister is 20 weeks pregnant, she has 3 lovely boys ages 9, 6 and 3, today she went for her first scan for this pregnancy hoping for news of a girl and guess what.............
IT'S TWINS!!!!!
She hasn't got over the shock yet, didn't even ask what sex they were, she hasn't stopped crying since 2.30!! Poor girl she said she also thinks they are twin BOYS!! How could her midwife miss TWO heart beats?? She's been going to clinic since 10 weeks pregnant too!
I think it's great, I told her I would help as much as possible........but the thought of 5 BOYS!!!

It was at about that stage my niece was told she was expecting twins! She too was aghast - but it explained her dreadful morning sickness. At 34 weeks she had identical twin girls, who are the most beautiful, gorgeous babies. Hope your sister is as lucky - but she'll love them whatever. (Even the woman I knew who was sterilised after her 4th boy, then had twin boy and girl, wouldn't be without them!)

When I was a pupil midwife, before the days of scans, twins not infrequently turned up unexpectedly at the time of delivery......
(Cathy, aka Methuselah....:D :D :D)

She's been listening to the heart beats since 12 weeks, her midwife told her one side was the baby the other was the placenta...........lol.

The placenta had its own heartbeat?

Lol.......she's been told they are identical, she is going to find out the sexes in 2 weeks time, I just hope that at least one of them is a girl, it might make her feel a bit better!
congrats to your sister sharon
there are lots of twins in my family my grandmother had 2 sets and also 4 singles and then her daughter who was a single had twin boys
i love twins would love twins someday
georgina

If they're identical, they'll be the same sex!

I was going to say that JG but thought I would leave it to you to break the news that identical means same sex. :)
My sister has twins a boy and girl and they will be 11 in January. I have to say you'll have to get used to every journey however short taking at least 20 times as long because every one and I mean everyone stops you with twins :)
And you soon get used to juggling a baby under each arm. And I will say she hardly used the car because it was almost impossible to get the twins a toddler just 14months older than them in the car and out agan so she brought a silver cross twin pram. it was fantastic as the twins were born in Jan and the cold weather was around.

The placenta has a pulse rather than a heart beat, it's more swooshy than the babies heart beat ;) The lady across the road from me has twin girls, they are just about 2 years old now (and as cute as buttons, but I do wish she wouldn't dress them both the same :( ) My two boys are often getting mistaken for twins, even though there is 2 years between them!

Two of my daughters ages 11 and 13 are often mistaken for twins as they are the same size, same hair colour, same eye colour and look very similar, they hate it............lol.

i have twin boy and girl and 2 older boys with a year between them and when people find out i have twins they assume its the boys. Yoyu would be amazed how many people dont know you can get boy/girl twins. And if i had a pound for everytime somebody had said to me 'are they identical' i would be a very rich girl!!!! if i am in a tolerant mood i just smile and say no but if i am caught on a hectic day then they get a 'no he has extra bits to her so how could they be identical!!'
I'm a twin and wasn't "discovered" till after my brother was born and the doc said "I think there's another one!" Mike was born at home and Mum was rushed to hospital to have me. Her G.P. had told her she was putting on too much weight and not to eat so much!

Kath, I am only 33 and we were the same. My parents never knew. Well my mum suspected due to the size of her. :-)))
I would have loved twins. After I had Jade , I never had anymore but would have like her to have had a brother or sister. Not now though.

the doctor told my mum she was suffering from wind. she already had 3 sons and a daughter and hadnt planned another baby. she was 38 and my dad 48. she saw the midwife who laughed and said if its wind its got a hearbeat. my dad was just getting over the shock when my mum next saw the midwife and was told she was either having twins or a spider !!!!!. me and my brother arrived 3 weeks early on christmas day !!!!.i was desperate to have twins but was told it misses a generation......my daughter has had 3 children in 4 years and each time i have dreaded it being twins! lol.

My doctor told me in 1992 that I had started the menopause early, due to being diabetic from an early age. Christmas eve 1992 I went to the doctors feeling unwell and was told I was 20 weeks pregnant!! I felt so silly, this was my 3rd pregnancy and didn't even know..........lol. My daughter arrived 11 weeks later, born 9 weeks prem, so it was the shortest pregnancy I've ever had!

my friend has twins age 13 years old, they must have been cute at some time but at the rageing hormones stage I cannot see it at the moment, I am afraid.
I have my grand daughter savannah 6 that lives with me my daughter lives next door with her girls Tanisha is 6 months younger that savannah, savannah told the greeter at ASDA that it was her birthday and they did an announcment to the whole store that savannah and tanisha had there birthday today and wished them happy returns and they got a small gift each, it was such a shock when 6 months later Tanish went in and told them it was her birthday that day and both girls expected another gift, it's worse when savannah's sister comes to stay as she id 12 months younger than Savannah and 6 months younger that Tanisha, all they all have long blonde hair and blue eye's, everyone do's a double take
Now both my daughter are expecting in February so it will start all over again

I was 7 months pregnant when they discovered I was having twins, and it was not my first scan. They reckoned that one was lying behind the other that is why one was missed. And there was me thinking I was putting on way too much weight :0 6 weeks later I was the proud owner of a baby boy and a baby girl :) they are now 22 years old. Then when I was expecting my others (not twins) each time I had a scan and they said 'there is only one in there' I kept saying 'are you sure' :)
congratulation to your sister twins are hard work but also lots of fun
carol

Good News!!!! My sisters scan today confirmed IDENTICAL TWIN GIRLS!!! Yippeee!!!!!! We are so pleased for them all, two baby sisters for their 3 little boys!

Brilliant news! Couldn't be better! When are they due?
:)

Official date (40 weeks) would be 15th January, but all the boys she started naturally at 38 weeks, so we're looking around christmas time, the hospital would like her to get to 36 weeks, so that's around 19/20th December .............Nappy Christmas!..............lol.

Yes, I think she's over the shock now...........and excitement has taken over, she said the thought of living in a house full of 6 males was quite frightening.........lol. she said at least now there will be 2 that won't need to be told to put the toilet seat back down ;-)
What lovely, uplifting news & thanks for sharing it - because its put a right big smile on my face.
Many congratulations to your sister Sharon.
