Has anybody got a LinksysG wireless Broadband router ?

We are having so many problems and our service provider (Oxfordshire Rural Broadband) who are very willing but keep saying it is the router that is the problem but we are convinced it is their signal (satelite service). Since we have had it May I would say that we have had about 50% service. It is often slower than out old dial up connection !

It is really naffing me off as it takes so long to send a mail or post anything or fill out anything on line due to the continuos intermittant signal.

Anybody had any problems like this at all ?

Thanks

Lucy

From what I understand this is quite a common problem - something to do with concurrent users and capacity. Will ask my OH when he gets home (works with lots of ISP's) :)

If you have a look at this page : Broadband Wychwoods and look at the right hand side of the page, there is a piece about your service provider...and they are asking for people who HAVE this service to let them have feedback ;)

Well you could try and prove its them .... does it work when plugged into your computer via a network cable? If your computer isnt near by maybe you could use a laptop or borrow someones just to test it with a cable?

Or if you know anyone anywhere who uses a different isp and wouldnt mind you testing your router you could do that.

Don't suppose you have a broadband modem lying around? that you could test it with without the wireless?

Lastly if you right click on the wireless network bit down by the clock and go to view wireless networks ... make sure the use iee1394 isnt ticked we have had problems when that is ticked..

Oh one more thing ... do you have any other wireless things nearby? wirless tv connection etc. The reason i ask is in our office we have one of those wireless things that beams sky downstairs and it totally wrecks my connection.......or ive also found if im pretty far away from the router and there is event just another computer too close using wireless that can cause problems.

If none of that helps its the ISP

Oh one more thing that recently happened to someone - There is no crackle or anything on your phone line is there? or any form of bad quality? That can sometimes screw it up, where as a minor crackle on a voice line can be ignored or sometimes barely heard it can really wreck your BB connection.
