I would like more information on Dogs "R" Us and the Dog Lovers Registry. Is there anyway of tracing where the puppies come from? I am trying to find out if a local GSD breeder is supplying the above. Has anyone got any suggestions?

The Dog Lovers Register guarantees complete anonymity for breeders .... thus allowing breeders to pass on dogs outwith the kennel clubs registration and rules. Janet I have gained copies of register forms for the organisation, and phoned them and they will not tell whether they have the line we were looking for registered. Let me know when you get the copy of the registration form from the Wirral. The one I traced through the thread here was not a first bred pup from that suffix.

Speak soon, Catherine

Hi Caitlin, I have copies of Dog Lovers Registration certificates from the Puppy Suppliers in Manchester and with the Pedigree names of the dogs on them I have been able to trace the 'breeder' (I use the term loosely) I know who supplies the weimaraner puppies to this 'puppy supplier' but I cant do anything about it.... unless you can tell me that I can... I would be most interested to hear from you.

Regards
Lynn

Hi Lynn, I would love to know how you got the copies.... have you many ... and are they just Weimeraners you have? We currently are running a challenge against a local GSD breeder (since strictly speaking they don't breed any other type I guess they are not what most people think of as a puppy farm but the conditions and quality of dogs there are pretty horrendous I have heard). The things we have done include:

Proving they are in breach of their planning application on the number of puppies bred in any one year.
Contacting Inland Revenue to show the number of dogs sold from the premises
Putting in objections to extensions on their planning application (we won at first round it is currently with Secretary of State!)

What we are trying for now is to gain evidence that they actually breed more pups than they register. From someone who worked there, I hear they have a large insidence of puppy fade. Regularly they only register 1 or 2 pups to a litter. Last year they had 16 litters ... which were kennel club registered, but we understand they do back to back breeding. Unless they register these to a rogue bitch they must be selling via other outlets or selling unregistered pups which I haven't heard they do from the premises. Hence my interest in any pup from Mayfield or other outlet with their suffix.

Hope that explains it all

Catherine

Hi Catherine, I work with Weimaraner Rescue and when we take a dog into rescue we ask for all the papers, and we keep the papers so that they cant be used by anyone else.... this is how I have the actual certificates issued by the Dog Lovers Registration Scheme. I have one set of papers for one dog from DLRS and the KC too! so that particular litter was registered with both. There are 2 'breeders' that I know of breeding weims back to back litters and one litter is registered at the KC and the next at the DLRS!! That how some people get around the 1 litter per year registered at the KC.

So I would think that unless you can find someone who has bought a GSD from Mayfield with a DLRS certificate and find out who the parents are registered to, then there wont be much else you can do! If you want to see a copy of the certificate, so you know what you are looking for, then e mail me and I will post you a copy.... I dont have a scanner!

Best Regards
Lynn
