Topic Dog Boards / General / GSD scam

Hello all,
Whilst at a friends house yesterday, she received an email from the Nigerian Police Force allegedly! They were asking for her help as the were looking for 1000 GSD's to use as Police Dogs. Now, we all know this is a scam but as she doesn't advertise she has no idea how they got her details (she does breed, but 1 litter of GSD's in twenty years) I thought forewarned is forearmed.

It might be a serious search for the Nigerian Armed forces for dogs

We had an horrific problem with pets being boughtm "rescued" & stolen then being shipped en masse to Nigeria as guard dogs & being maltreated & dying there

Money was offered(£200+ & this was 10 years ago)to the owners & rescues & the Nigerian govermeny was paying £500 a dog.

The dogs were chained up as guard dogs, beaten, starved etc

I plray this isn't starting up again

Hello there,
You are right it could be a legitimate search, but from what you have said I am glad I posted it anyway. Like you I hope this never gets off the ground.
Thanks,
Jeff.

They would probably ask for details of your bank account so that they can pay you and then empty it!

Sad to say they probably will be after real dogs

Like I said the dogs send out before were badly treated & lasted a year at the most. The government is cash rich due to having Oil fields so they spend money on buying the dogs & non on their treatment & care

The agaent in the UK was based in West Yorkshire & literally made a killing from his vile trade. There were even protest rallies at the Airport were they flew out from

You can pass the E mail on to a police unit at Thames Police that deal with Internet scams etc

Dear All

Bin these emails immediately.  It's a scam that's being going for years where they ask for your bank details to  pay your fees and then fleece you of your cash.

I worked for a property company a few years ago and it was a nigerian govenment company that had lots of money to invest blah blah blah.  Supply them with properties for sale and your bank accounts so they could pay the money straight in - ahem.

BIN IT!!

Actually Cooper Girl this is not that E mail I know because I just got one as well.

This will be an attempt to get dogs from the UK for Guard dog duties on the end of a chain

Anyone getting the one re the money should sent it to the Police in Thames area on this  e mail address pravina.makwana@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk

They will contact the government & the ISP of the sender

Hi it is also being sent to Border Collie people but they are wanted for search and rescue rather than guard dogs so it is either a scam or as Moonmaiden says the poor dogs will be badly treated.Gillian

Its a total scam - see here: Nigerian Police Scam

So no need to panic. Just delete the mail.
