I have just been browsing the section on showing and would appreciate it if some one could clarify what is meant by 'exemption' shows. I am trying to get as much info as possible as I am hoping to start showing my retriever pup idn due course(currently 17weeks old). I have already obtained details about ringcraft classes and plan to visit a few shows to observe etc.

Exemption shows are basically fun shows run usually in aid of charity.
The classes are all mixed and include classes such as waggiest tail.
You would be better to go to champ shows to get a true impression of a dog show .There you will see hundreds of your choesen breed and see then handled properly

JUST TO SAY...EXEMPTION SHOWS ARE NOW CALLED "COMPANION SHOWS"
not to get confused and think it is yet another type of show.....they are great as a training ground for your baby.
(sorry about the capital letters!)
