In view of Madam Lily Lavender's impeding last litter of kittens, she has been safely lodged in the nurser - i.e. airing cupboard, for the last five days, with the bedroom door firmly shut.
However, yesterday, because we had an Estate Agent coming round, the bedroom door was left open and the litter tray removed - temporarily - but Lily seemed to take offence at this - and slipped outside without us realising - and disappeared completely

We hunted high and low for her - checking all her favourite places - but couldn't find her anywhere. This morning, she reappeared - no longer pregnant - but lead me, quite hapily, out of the garden, over the lane onto the golf course. There is a little copse just across the lane, and a lot of dead wood has been piled up, and it is there, in the middle of the brambles, that Lily has had her kittens! I can see two, but I cannot reach down far enough to get them out - there is a lovely little tunnel in - but it goes down about 4 ft! I don't want to start taking the pile of wood apart, but I'm going to have to wait until OH & Kippers come in, to help get them out!!!
I can now understand how last year a feral cat had kittens at the bottom of our garden without us knowing anything about them - if Lily hadn't shown me where she had decided to have them, I doubt that I would have found them on my own.
I'll let you know later how many there are.
