My dobermann male is 6 1/2 months old and my friend has a 2 1/2 year old bitch Rottweiller.  Since my puppy was 12 weeks he has been mixed with my friends rottweiller, but she has always growled at him and tried to dominate him.  As my dobe has grown she doesn't seem to lunge at him as much but she still will growl and try to have a go at him.  On Monday we went for a walk and she kept having a go at him and eventually after a few times he then had a go back and they were up on their back legs and seemed to be fighting - they were growling and snarling and biting at each other's mouths. I would have thought that a male puppy and female dog would be okay together.   This happened about three times while we were walking.  She seems to instigate this all the time, what is the best way to handle this?

Most of the walk they get on fine playing and jumping about!

Was blood drawn?  If not it was just normal adult dog play - it's often very noisy and can appear scarey, but if they really wanted to hurt each other, they could have done ;)

I would say that is normal for a rotty bitch, my girl does this to her daughter and her husband just to let them know that she is still boss, and they respect this. She also will not let her daughter nibbel my hands when playing she tells her off, they are a very clever breed.  Keep an eye so things dont get out of control.  good luck

My dobe bitch is 20 months and the noise coming from both her and my 3 year old shih tzu dog when they are playing would frighten anyone not used to it.AS i tell everyone , they cant talk so they different growls and pinning noise's are just there way of communicating
