The best place to start would be you bitches breeder who would know which dogs would be suitable for your bitch. If for some reason it is not possible to get help from your bitches breeder then the breed club may be able not only to suggest suitable studs but may be able to find someone to guide you through the whole whelping process. The club will also let you know what health tests you require and if you don't show who would be able to assess your bitch and her qualities. You don't say what age your bitch is as most clubs do have an ethical code and you will need to be sure she falls within that code. Have no idea what you mean when you say she could do with a break

Jackie I too had no idea when someone said to me "my bitch has broken down"???? Oh my god I thought.... only to discover when I asked what had happened that is means a bitch has come into season !  I think the poster means that his bitch is about to come into season.

What a strange expression, is it used in the UK? Anyway that means the guest should forget breeding this time as they will need more time to source a suitable stud, shame if they have already booked time off work but would not expect them to find a suitable dog in a couple of weeks. Perhaps if you join the Forum guest and let us know what breeding your bitch is someone may just know of a suitable stud.

Jackie,

Someone said to me " I am getting my bitch lined tomorrow".  I thought that was an awful saying.

Never understand why people can't use normal, " Nice" terminology :-)))))
