hi, i need some advice  as i would like to get my chihuahua microchipped. i have heard that there are two different chips to chose from. is this true and what should i ask for. many thanks.

yes i think there is two now.
1 is just the basic chip for id etc the other is the same but can also read the temp of the dog through scanning.
my boy has the old kind but i would go for the new one with the temp as an extra.
hope this helps.

out of interest- how long has this newer one been out on the market for ? And how accurate is it at reading the temperature?

This would be ideal for whelping bitches wouldn't it? sandra.

i don't think its been out long a few weeks maybe. i don't know how good it is as my lad has the old kind, but the vets seem to think the reading is right. i suppose they could check both ways to make sure probably did this on testing the product?

So instead of taking a temperature with a cheap thermometer it would then be necessary to invest in an expensive scanner or alternatively take it to the vet.......?

why go for a cheap thermometer or a expensive scanner,

i got a termometer which gose in the ear of the dog or human with in sec a reading,no discomfort, and the reading is correct as the same as the old way thermometer,is was great when the girl are in whelp,

it cost me £35 two year ago plus it cannot break as easy as the glass ones.
