hi im a new dog owner and i am wondering what the best food to use i have heard that Arden Grange is a good quality food does any one use it and what are the advantages good and bad????????? please help :)
- By Jackie H [gb] Date 24.07.04 11:13 UTC
I use it and it suits my dogs well, but you will need to see which of the quality foods suit your dog, how old is she and what is she used to being fed. GSD's can suffer with sensitive stomachs so any changes should be made slowly with care.

i have not got him yet i am getting him (duke) next week from a good breeder he will be 10 wks old what arden grane rang do you feed your dog?
- By Jackie H [gb] Date 24.07.04 11:29 UTC
My adults are on Classic. But if you are buying from the breeder then I would keep him on the food he is used to until about 5 months and then wean him onto the food you want to use when he is adult, take about 8 weeks to do this mixing the food from all puppy food to all adult food slowly. Avoid feeding GSD pups a food too high in protein as I find it can lead to pain in the limbs and hyper activity. Please remember, if you are buying from a good breeder they have put a good deal of effort into the production of your puppy and it is to them you should turn for advice, if they disagree with me then go with them, as they will want the best for their pup and their reputation depends on how he turns out.

HI AGAIN YOU SEEM TO NO ALOT ABOUT DOGS IS IT YOUR LINE OF WORK??
- By ozzie72 [au] Date 24.07.04 14:21 UTC
You will find the "majority" of folk here know alot about dogs :) I spend every spare minute on the computer researching my breed(shih-tzu) i am especially interested in canine nutrition,i could read and talk about this subject 24/7 !! I have well over 100 canine related books and every book mark on my puter is dog/nutrition related ;) You could say that i live and breath my dogs.

You'll see, once you get your dog you will start looking things up on the computer and once you start learning you will just want to learn more and more! You will get used to the blank expression on the faces of your family and friends when you tell them yet ANOTHER doggy story :D ;) And you will learn to block out the constant jibberish of hubby saying things like "them dogs get fed better than me" OR my personal favourite "those bloody mutts get more love and attention than me" The funny thing is i have to agree with him

As for A.G i cant help you with that, but i can tell you it IS better than Euk!!

No Sue, like you I am just an owner, but have been just an owner for a long long time and my sister was a Vet Nurse also for a long long time and some of it rubs off. Have in my time attended lectures and seminars on more subjects than I can remember so you see I am just a totaly unquallified canine nut case, unlike some on here who have the education to go with their love of dogs.

I've been feeding arden grange classic lamb and rice to my lab and she looks good on it. if you do feed arden grange join their breeder club and you save around ten pounds on a 15kg bag.

Ihave just ordered some A.G.....hope that my two will like it!     Can't find it in any pet shops near me so ordered on-line.

I think A.G will still send breeder bags by post so if you continue feeding it its still worth joining the breeder club. or you could email the breeder club and find out if they have any stockists near you, they sent me a list with about four or five outlets near me.

You are right Paul, well worth joining the breeders club the savings are not just token ;)
- By Jackie M [gb] Date 01.09.04 09:18 UTC
Where do I find the breeders club.  By the way I have looked.
- By Jackie H [gb] Date 01.09.04 10:26 UTC
If when you order your food you ask them to send you a form for the breeders club they will, you just fill in your name and the breed of dog and or cat and send it back, you will then receive a letter with your breeders number and information about the available food and the price to you as a member of the breeders club. It is not a club in the social sense just a group of people who use the AG food and have bothered to give the firm details of their pets/stock, in return they can buy at very good rates.

Thanks Jackie.   The food should arrive tomorrow and shall write to them requesting the form.

Hi

I feed my 14 month ESS on Arden Grange Junior as he has all sorts of allergies. It is excellent! Please though can someone tell me how to join this breeders club as I'm paying £27.00m per 15Kilo bag and any saving will help.

Dee

Hi Dee
If you go to the grange website at http://www.ardengrange.com/ , look on the breeder and professional users page there is an email link for the breeders club.
