What is the strangest "doggy gift" any of your dogs has brought to you?

A week or two ago while out with the wonderful Rosebud, she started mousehunting and digging in the field. The next thing I know she has something in her mouth which she wants me to play with. Thinking it might be a dead something or other, I got her to drop it, and much to my surprise it was a    Cannon ball !!!!!!
The local museum think it is a small cannon ball dating from the English Civil War!

Walked my older dog down the road to post some letters before going into the field. The letter box is set into a hedge and I wasn't taking much notice of him while I shoved the letters in the box. As we walked into the field I noticed that he was holding about a pound of cheddar cheese (still in it's wrapper) that he must have fished out of the hedge :D :D

Many years ago, my aunt's dog got out when she was visiting a friend in the Isle of Wight. He came back a while later carrying a still warm leg of lamb :D

Mattie did they find the rest of the body? Where John trains his Annabel there is a story of a head being lost, perhaps he'll tell us about it?

When I was a child, a head was found in a duffel bag about 1/4 mile from my house (Epping Forest). They found the rest of the body in another two locations :( I think that it was of a young Asian girl that had been killed by her father :(

I used to walk past the spot quite frequently - but on the other side of the road to the forest. There was a tree with a painted cross (obviously put there by the police) and I always felt compelled to look at it for years after :( It was quite spooky really - but in those days we had no alternative but to go that way.

When I was a child, a cocker spaniel bitch of ours stole the cat next door kittens (only days old)!!!!! and promptly put them all in her bed. My mother was alerted to the noise of the kittens crying when they got hungry, together with the poor mother cat walking up and down our back garden crying her head off because she could hear her kittens. We had a very confused hour or two trying to put the mother cat at ease, get the kittens fed and sort out our bitch.

When I first got married we had a border collie who was raised in a large box with two litters of kittens, pups and kittens cross suckled and our bitch would try to miow!

A lot of years ago When My young Lab Bea  was having pups our old Lab Vicky  aged ten came into milk and both of them fed the babies she used to get in the box and wash one till they started to feed and then she was happy Bea never bothered at all and was happy to share her babies.
We also had Lab, Becky who fed an orphan litter of Yorkies our Yorkie died  having the pups and Becky came into milk.It was a funny site watching this big clumsy lab gently lying with the pups and when she stood up they clung on like christmas tree decorations they must have been the fattest yorkie pups ever I have a picture somewhere.

We had a cross breed once who hated the man next door. The man next door was not a nice man, and abused his family - eating in front of them when he would not give them money for food etc.

He came home one day drunk, and had a huge steak to cook for himself. Whilst he was slagging off his wife, our dog ran into their kitchen and stole the steak. Our dog arrived back into our garden with this huge steak and promptly buried it.

Dogs can be so perceptive!!!
