Yesterday I was enjoying coffe in my sun lounge, when I looked out of my window to find that my *6 mounth old puppy* (old English male) on top of a yellow lab, on closer inspection they were stuck together. I live in the middle of nowhere, but sometimes people walk dogs up our road, so I looked around for her owner but could,nt see anyone. she had a coller on but not a tag. I think they were stuck for about 15 mins and then the little "bitch" ran off. What will happen, Is he old enough to be fertile?I shall keep my eyes out for the dog and owner, but other than that what can I do! I am Worried that becouse he is so big and she was so little that if she got pregnant that the pupps would be giant and cuase problems? I don,t know. its not good.

<<<I think they were stuck for about 15 mins>>
did you do let them tie for the whole 15 minutes?

You can't stop a tie, lel. Once it's started it has to take its course.

If the dog is a larger breed than the bitch, then the bitch is very likely to have enormous problems whelping, so it is vital that the bitch owner is aware that their negligence during her season could easily result in her death.

The old English is my male puupy, I m realy worried now. I could put a note in the post office or libary?

You did right to not intervene Mia. Forcibly breaking a tie can result in severe damage to both dog and bitch.

Mia, Ithink you should look on how to stop it in the future, and not at the past now, what has happened has hap[pened you couldnt stop them tieing, but.................
How high is your fence??? Could you increase the size to stop it happening again???????
Lea.

Lea,

Surely if her dog doesn't 'do off' and she lives on the middle of nowhere she isn't responsible for other peoples dogs coming onto her property.
I agree that a note in a shop window might help but there's always the chance that the owner knew of her OES and chose to allow their bitch access to him.
Putting a note in a window might make them think twice about allowing the pregnancy to continue.
Also don't put that your dog is a pedigree just say he is massive. They might think they will be able to sell the pups at a high price.
