As I sit and sort through photos of my dogs that will go back to their breeders to show them how the dogs are getting on, I just wondered how many of you keep in touch with the breeders of your pooches? And for those of you who breed, how often people who adopt your pups will keep in touch with you? I was very fortunate to find 2 lovely breeders through this website to get my 4 boys, and I keep in (almost) regular touch with them both, sending photos etc- just wondering if others did the same?

I always send Christmas cards to 'my' puppies. Sometimes I get them in return ... :(

I dont keep in touch with Gemmas 'breeder' I got her from a very grotty rescue centre, which these days, I wouldnt touch with a barge pole!!!!!!!!!!!!
But do keep in touch with Gwen, who put me in touch with the owner of Beano, and seeing as she is on here, She knows exactly what Beano is doing all the time LMAO. And send her an email to see how she is and all her gang are :D So the breeder of Beano will know how he is getting on :)

Have regular contact with both the breeders of my dogs. They have both become good freinds and are always interested in how their babies are doing.
I recently sent one of them a piccy of Zara(shiba inu) sat on my hubbies motorbike with him...apparently its going in the next shiba newsletter.
See them both a few times a year at shows and the dogs always go back to stay with then if I have to go away without them and can't get a dog sitter.Send regular piccys, news and show results and always ask for advice if in need of help.

Hi Oddly ;) like Lel I keep in touch with my pups breeder. And I have only just lost contact with the breeder of my first Staff when the lady died that was from 1978 so a long while ago. And only lost contact with the breeder of my first bitch from 1979 two years ago when the people both moved into a care home. So not bad going eh? and they kept in touch too. :)

We bred all but 2 of my bunch here. Of those 2, one I see regularly at shows, and have sadly not been able to get back in touch with Mabels breeder. Also in touch with breeders of dogs who are no longer with us, including one in the USA and the people who had another out of the litter, also in the USA. I send Christmas Cards to all my puppy people, and probably pester the life out of them with info on fundraising etc (beware Lea, will be in touch soon about Calendars and Year Books!) and get lots back from theml. I am lucky in seeing a lot of my "kids" regualarly, as they come in for grooming, or see them at shows.
bye

Sadly some new owners don't keep in touch even though I ask them too. Have avoided ringing them more than just initaily as not to seem too interfering. Have writen to some that I have heard nothing from and had no reply.
Fortunately saome become family mebers visiting regularly or sending updates, rtinging for advice etc.
I tend to hope that the ones who son't seem to wich to keep in touch are coping OK and just view the dog as theirs and don't want intereference.
The pups I have had back fall fairly evenly in the two categories the keep in tough and here nothing from types

I keep in touch with most people that have had pups off me over the years, some with weekly emails and pictures, other with visits when they are down this way. some are in daily contact as we have become good friends. this is one of the things that I try and size up about people when they come for pups. Sunday is usually the day I recieve lots of calls for updates, some fade away over the years, but some have stayed very good friends, I am please to say
The people that I bought my Lhasa's off have emails 2 -3 times a week. people that I bought Tibetan Mastiff's from 18 years ago have gone on to be my best friends and we work together in our breeding plans

We've kept in touch with Spice's breeder from the very first. We met with Spice's 'mum' before Spice was born, received a phone call the minute she was delivered, then we visited her at 11days old, then fortnightly thereafter, until we collected her keeping a lovely pic.diary of her growing up.We constantly email each other, have sent numerous pics and met up at a show recently.
Not all of the puppy owners have done the same though which is a bit sad.The breeder is so full of useful advice and help so it makes sense to keep that friendship going :)
Jacqueline.

I keep in regular contact with the breeder of my boys :) They are my first port of call for any problems and I know I am welcome to take the boys there anytime. I see them regularly at shows and rallies and if not, I go across to see them and let the boys have a run. We have puppy reunions (even the big puppies ;) ) and they make us feel like we are part of an extended family. I have to say that we are so lucky :)

Hello I keep in touch with both the breeders of my pups and always email them for advice and give them updates.
I do sometimes feel like a pest though, not that they make me feel like that but I think they probably have so many owners contacting them like me it must do their head in.
I hope they don't mind me getting in touch but I like them to know how well the dogs are doing and how fantastic we think they are.
Lisa
Always send a card and pictures at Christmas and always get a card back. I think that some breeders like to see how the pups have turned out (mine seem interested anyhow).

I have tried to keep in contact with my Dally's breeder with cards and photo's, but have had nothing back so gave up. My BC's breeder I see at shows and she has always given me great support.

Have to say the internet and e-mails are a godsend, I get loads of photos these days of dogs that I bred and have gone to their new homes. Some owners don't send me any photo's (hint, hint) but at least I get to see them now and again at dog show, like this coming Sunday, shame I can't bring Lastar to it :d
I rec'd some brilliant photo's the other day of one of my latest SWD's swimming and he wasn't even 14 weeks old.

I keep in touch with my bitches breeder, Iam always talking on the phone with her and we try to meet up every now and then. As for my males breeder they are no longer breeding :( hve no idea where they are, not sure what happened with them.

I keep in touch with Fagans breeders, they are lovely and always full of advice but dont try to take over :)

flynns breeders have turned into great friends now,& ive also made friends with the owners of some of his siblings & half siblings,& the breeders of his mum & dad (different people)
i kept in touch with nellies for a while, but sort of lost contact,i may try again though this xmas.
i have met up with two of her older siblings though
tara was given to me at 18months...think theyve emigrated....????
