My daughter is about to join the Royal Navy and has to go down to Cornwall for her 8 weeks basic training. Does anyone out there know if she gets paid for this?

Would have thought so - I believe they do in the army :)

Hi, my husband served in RN for 22 years and yes they do get paid - notn full pay but training pay we believe. If in doubt ring your local Armed Forces Careers Office who should know and also give you an idea of how much. Hope this is of some help.

I joined Navy when I was 17 and yes you get paid,if I remember correctly it was quite a decent wage too.You have to go on 'pay parade' to get your pay slip-most important thing is to remember your ID number,if you forget it they make you go to back and go through rigmarole again.I have a great memory for numbers but I just froze each time I was up in front of the officers, terror!!!!!!I didn't stick it,but I think it's a great life for somebody who can, good luck to them!!!sandra.
