OK ...How spoilt is your pooch? My elks are all raised by my standards. They are not allowed upstairs or on the furniture and although they are given the odd treat these are restricted. They are loved and cuddled but are treated as dogs...not little people. They get a good 'dogs life' with good food and plenty of exercise
Zara however is a different story...but its not down to me!!!!!!! She sleeps on my daughters bed...OH's decision. She sits where ever she wants....OH's decision. She sits in the chair with my OH when he eats and shares his dinner...his decision. She has untold number of toys, beds, collars etc and has been told (by the OH) that when the boys go back to their breeder when we go on holiday she needn't worry...shes coming with us!!!!!In fact he half jokingly said he would have to design some way to transport her on his new motorbike!!!(put my foot down don't worry)...she already sits on the pillion seat(when stationary) like its her rightful place....and just to think I was REALLY concerned that the OH wouldn't accept Zara cos he hates little dogs!
My daughter of course is just as bad...she moves her quilt onto the floor and sleeps there with Zara if Zara decides she doesn't want to sleep on the bed.!!! Maybe I should just accept that I'm no longer 'queen' of the household LOL
Archer
BTW....Zara rules the boys any way so it doesn't seem to bother the boys any that she's treated differently.

Hi Archer,
My pooch is so spoilt, when we got Toby we said no going on the sofa, well he sits on the sofa and if he is on the sofa or chair first we sit on the floor, we also said he would sleep in the kitchen oh dear he sleeps in our room, he has lots of toys infact he has his own toy box, he will be going on holiday with us i couldnt bare going without him, we dont share our dinner with him because from a pup i stopped him begging for our dinner, i had to really because of my children and two young grandsons, although he is spoilt he is very well behaved and we love him so much he is always the centre of attention :D

Difficult one. Like Archer I dont do spoiling, its the rest of em. Satan Filly lets him sleep on her bed, Gothboy feeds him scraps of his food ( why do I bother buying Burns?) Stinkfoot curls up on the couch with him to watch TV and he enjoys CBeebies. OH was caught baby talking to the dog last night " Whos my wee good wee boy then?" :D Compared to the local dogs who get shut out in the garden most of the day and walked only for toileting, he is spoilt with attention and exercise not lack of discipline.

I'm sorry to say that mine are also spoilt.     Only one sleeps in the bedroom but they both sit on the chairs and couch, they also have a birthday party and sit at the table with cake  (and just for that day a sandwich) and we sing happy birthday.....how sad can you get!!!   We also arrange our holidays so that they can come with us because we just can't face putting them into the kennels although we have a good one near us.

Kennels oh scary they frighten me, im sure there are good kennel out there but my experience from past is not good,

Is it really spoiling to take your dog on holiday wiht you? I dont think so. Holidays are important for families to have fun together and bond so the dogs come too. I believe some folks are lucky enough to take more than one holiday annually, so maybe they do hols with kids and dogs one time then hols for spouses another.

Mmmmm

Spoilt????

The boys both sleep in my room..... Rocky always has, when i got him i lived in a bedsit, so not a lot of choice there. When Dill arrived, he started off in the kitchen, but moved to my room in an attempt to housetrain him. He is still there, still chewing my bedknobs!

Abby originally was welcomed into my bedroom as well..... however my double bed is a little small for me, her, rocky , dilly AND the cat (got even smaller when the part-time boyfriend came to stay!), and she had a rather disconcerting habit of taking up the middle of the bed, and then growling if she was TOUCHED whilst she slept.

To preserve harmony and prevent any middle of the night biting incidents, she now sleeps downstairs on the sofa. (Oh, she WONT sleep on the floor, doesnt matter WHAT you do!)

Apart from that though... they eat what they are told, when they are given it, they are walked when i want, not when THEY yell at me, and in general are dogs.... they DONT get away with murder, and they are not toys, or babys or anything else.

Spoiled, my dogs, hmmm ;)  Well, we have different degrees of spoiling here, I think.  The dogs all eat dog food, have a toy or two each, show leads and a fancy/fun collar and lead each.  Then there is Puglet, who is a completely different case.  She is my hand reared tiny pug with some medical issues.  We never thought she would make 6 months old, and she is now 3, so I consider every extra day to be a gift, and I am afraid to say she is absolutely spoiled rotten!  Being hand reared makes a difference, I think, as she is much more clingly than the rest, spends a lot of time being carried (her legs are not too good) and has a pooch pouch to sit in so doesnt miss out on walks.  She has so many collars, leads, coats (even pyjamas and sunglasses :) )  She occassionally demands to be hand fed (which I give in to) and has a passion for Ben & Jerrys vanilla ice cream.  She expects (sometimes demands) the best tidbits from my plate, insists on sitting on my knee while I am working at the computer or sewing machine, and has what virtually amounts to her own fan club of friends and visitors who absolutley adore her, she will occassionally allow them a cuddle, but only for a minute or two!  When we go to the pool she almost gets mobbed by the staff (she is the smallest swimmer) we had to get special permission for her to swim (they dont usually allow flat faces) , she just entrances people wherever we go, and she deserves to be spoiled! ;)
bye

VERY!!!  I'm looking at her in the back garden now and she looks like lady muck :D  Sat up on a throne!  She has run of the house, she sleeps on the bed, she has a natural diet consisting of corn fed chicken breast, and poussin to name a couple (OH very jealous of her diet :D) she has a pink diamante collar and lead (in fact she has an endless supply of posh collars and leads,) she has a toy box she is bathed once a week in Pantene (smooth and sleek) she goes on special walks (car required) most evenings, training and fun and games most nights (£90 quid a month) she kicks her feet like a spoilt child when I ask her to stand still for grooming
Very Very spoilt is my hound
