Can anyone give me an idea of what the average going rate is for a Boxer puppy
Thanx
Dexy
hi guest i cant advise you on the "going price" but please make sure any puppy you consider is suitable rather than cheap!
you should see the puppy on the breeders premises with mum.
ask the breeder about relevant health testing ,i belive it is hip scoring, eye testing and heart testing, hopefully a boxer owner/breeder maybe along shortly and be able to offer more expert advice.:)

According to Petplanet the 'going rate' for a Boxer puppy is £300 - £500. They are susceptible to many health problems, so only buy from a reputable breeder who can show you certificates of health (or copies) for both dam and sire.

as far as i know you can pay anything from 450 to 650 for a kc boxer. the higher price is down to the sucess in the show ring of the parents, but make sure they have had the tests as parents.
i have owned boxers and they do get alot of medical problems more so than the average breed so my advice would to get the pup insured and stay with it,it has saved me £100's over the years with my 2.
the average vet bill to have a lump removed from our dog was £250/£300 a time.
but saying that i would have another because they are great dogs and i couldn't fault them.
good luck in your search.

Price of a Boxer puppy at the moment seems to be £500 to £600 depending on area breeding etc. as with anything in life you get what you pay for any Boxer advertised at £300 would be a little suspect, even the worst of the local breeders in our area (churning out puppies from their pet mated to their best mates pet) are charging £450 and they have very suspect breeding.
I would also be wary of paying above £600 unless you have it on good authority the pup is something special, a gent rang me two days ago and said he had been quoted £750 in the London area when he read out the pedigree I had heard of virtually nothing for the first 4 generations, I informed him as tactfully as I could that they were ripping people off.
Prices tend to vary here in the South too, but the 'average' is £500-700 depending on the pedigree of pup.
I suspect the price guide for Pet Planet was based on prices a good few years back like 4 years or so.
The higher priced bracket I would expect to pay if I was purchasing a very promising puppy
for the show ring that had both parents as Champions etc. Even then you aren't guarenteed
a Show pup, things can still go wrong.
But some people do tend to think that they can charge ridiculous prices from non-health tested parents etc.
There are also a fair number of breeders that do care and do raise their litters to high standards which don't
rip people off.
I would also make sure that the parents have been heart-tested and are clear with grades that are either 0 or 1.
Which are the only grades acceptable for breeding stock as per the Boxer breed heart-testing scheme.
You should be able to see the certificate of the dam (mother) and the sire (father) if they own both dogs.
Hi Dexy
The average price for a boxer is between £500 and £600 here in lancashire depending on the bitch and the sire if both are champions expect to pay at least £700 for a show quality boxer, I know reds are very hard to find at the moment so a breeder who has a red boxer will charge about the same £700 just for a pet
White boxers are being sold for £300, If you are looking to buy a boxer ask the breeder if the bitch and sire are heart tested the lower the test the better, average test are between 0 & 2, I would try and find a reputable breeder where you can go and look at the mother and possible the sire ask if the puppies are KC registered and all have relevant health tests, hope this has helped you

Thank you for all of your replies. I am already a boxer owner - so most of the points raised I was aware of, it was just the price I wasn't quite sure of. Prices seem to have gone up just since last year!!! We are wanting another boxer (red) for our 18 month old brindle boy but are unsure of which sex to get - probably a bitch.
