Just read in dog paper that Ceredigion Council have given permission for a "55 bitch breeding kennels" near Beulah. Apparently locals are against it but passed anyway.
The rest of the article goes on to say that the plans are to convert two outbuildings to serve as the main dog holding area, with 17 pens, toilet and wash down area, whelping pen with 11 maternity pens, six pens for young stock, food store and lean to wet weather exercise yard. Does anyone know any more, I ask because, generally, I make a rule of not believing anything I read in any paper! :-)

Thing we have to remember is, the council probably would not have grounds to refuse the application, if the plans cover all the requirments, because it is legal to breed in this way, if you have a licence. It may be repugnant to us dog lovers, but you can "farm" pups like this. One can just hope that the dogs are treated in a humane way (loving and caring doesnt seem to be on the cards here, does it?) Dread to think where the pups will end up being sold!

My brother lives near there and he had to fight for years to be able to build the style of house he wanted on his own land. He went to appeal at the Welsh Assembly in the end after years of delay. How can planners get things so mixed up? It's also scary to think that is the part of the country my springer came from although from a family home with just a few dogs.
