Of all the days my bullmastiff had to learn how to open the food cupard it had to be today. She has an appointment at the vet today and she is meant to be staved as she may have to have a GA, i went for a bath and when i came down she happily had her head in the food bag munching away.
Not sure how she worked it out but she did, now waiting for the vets to open so that i can ring to see if it is still worth bringing her in, the biggest prob is is that she is to see a specalist and he is only there on a Thursday so if they say not to bring her in then we will have to wait untill next Thursday :(

maybe shes telling you she wants to stay at home...... they always do things you don't want them to at the right time.
what has the vets said?

Yep, Millie never eats before around 6pm, but yesterday when I ended up taking her to the vets about her grass seed, she had not only had 2 chewsticks in the morning, but about an hour before we went there, OH's newphew came round with a Macdonald's happy meal.

The equation - 5 year old + Macdonald's happy meal + puppy = you do the maths!

Sod's law, they couldn't take her in then as she had eaten and she had to go back today.  Any other day she wouldn't have eaten a thing all day!

Hi all
The vet said that he would still see her, so off we went and in the end she didn't need a GA after all.
She had Xrays 2 weeks ago and he used these and felt her. He thought that by feel her leg had started to improve ie. in the xray she had fluid on her knees but didn't have any at all when he felt her.
He thinks that the reason she is lame is because my lab hurt her a few weeks back while playing and that it needs time to heal. He has given her some tabs and said that if she isn't better in a month then he will see her again.
On the plus side her said that her hips are great, he can't say that she will never have probs with them as she is still only 4 months but for now there are no probs at all.

It is such a relief to know that she will probably be fine :)

Debbie

PS. As for getting into the food cupard, she's done it again twice today and i have now had to move the food into the garage. :( (with the big hairy spiders lol)

Perhaps you could get those things for your cupboards that people use when they have very young children to stop them from opening drawers/cupboards etc? Sorry, don't know what they are called...don't have children yet!

i put my dog food into a large bin with a lid that they can't open. ;) I learnt the hard way too. One of mine opened doors, no matter what kind of handle it had. She even worked out how to open the child safety things on cupboard doors  In the end I just bought a large kitchen bin that did NOT have a swing lid. ;D

I use a bin with a lid plus a suitcase balanced on top so that if my youngest lab does venture near the case will fall off. Its only fallen off once so I think I've sort of solved my problem.
