as you know i have a leo, i have been told he is adult at 2 but some males don't fully mature till 3 or 4.
so the question i'm asking is it mentally mature at 2 and physically stopped changing at 3/4?. his dad stopped around 3 1/2  in size and bulk.
tob is now about the right size in frames for the standard but needs to gain more mass.he is now almost 17 months old so i can't see him getting much bigger in height or he shouldn't.
but when could i say he will be mentally an adult????

come on leo owners want to pick your brains. lol

what are the ages that other breeds are classed as adult? am i right in thinking the smaller the dog the sooner in age?

Well my Brother an SIL breed them, so I asked and they say he should've stopped growing height wise and slowly start to bulk out. He's considered mature at around 4 years........ pretty much the same as Mals :)

Mind you, I'm not sure about mental maturity.... I don't think his male is anything but a pup ;)

i dont think dogs stop being pups until they are alot older than we expect we had a 11year old standard poodle who ju,ped around a 4ft fence to rescue my american cocker puppy who was having its nails cut and making a din typical yankie from my experiance all mine screem and wiggle

I think a lot depends on the owners as to a dogs mental maturity.  It is though that domestic dogs are kept at a permanent level of "puppyness" compared to the wild dogs and some will never mature because their owners encourage the puppy like behaviour
