I was totally shocked to discover that Britain didn't field a showjumping team at this year's Olympic's - what's going on?! I know we've got two individual riders there (Nick and Robert) but is this all we can muster? Will someone kindly explain to me what is going on!!
Thanks
Jo :)
Hi, Britain failed to qualify a team this year even though we have some of the best showjumpers in the world!
A lot of very good British horses were sold abroad recently and this has been blamed for us not being able to qualify. Even our riders can't do anything without decent horse power ;)

Thanks Lesley! I'm still shocked though that we didn't manage to qualify a team ... :)
Jo
I was also shocked that we couldn't raise a team - but the Olympic rules state that that the horse has to be the same nationality as the rider and that they have to be over 7 years old - and as Lesley said - a lot of the good British horses were sold  Hopefully Skelton is still in with a chance but he is lying 13th at the moment :(
Skelton went clear :D He qualified in fourth with only 6 points, which means both he and Smith (33rd with 21 points) have qualified for the individual final on friday :)
Hi
I was wondering about that rule - horses have to be the same nationallity as the rider.
How does that work as most riders are on horses bred in other countries.
EG the americans are riding german bred horses etc etc...
Any ideas?

why havent the whittakers gone?
Hi, Im not hugely sure on this so shoot me if I get my facts wrong :D but I think if there is such a rule then it may be that the horse must be owned by someone of the same nationality?
Can anyone clarify this? I am mainly guessing but that would seem to make more sense :)
