has any one had any problems with their female lab's vulva being to low for mating the stud dog seems to be to tall for her we have tried raising her rear legs a little higher but that does not seeem to work any ideas as we are now on day 11 of her cycle and running out of time

have you tried putting a telephone directory under a rug and getting her to stand on that? Or pushing her vulva forwards (with your hand under her belly)? If she's ready to mate and the dog's experienced he should manage! Good luck :)

IF she was ready (and willing) she would raise it herself.  Day 11 is still early for most bitches.

Another thought - are her hips okay (what is her score) - is the weight of the stud dog causing her problems if she is ready.

Some bitches have no idea what to do even when they are ready, and in those cases you just have to get down on your knees, put your hand through the bitch's back legs and present her vulva to the dog as he thrusts.  Sorry for the graphic description, but that's life!  If it's any consolation, if you have another mating 48 hours later, they often have more idea then.

I would suggest that it is still a little too early for her.  It is suprising how, when the time is right, these things are so much easier.  Make sure the dog is on a non-slip surface too which can help but I agree with the other posts in that it's often a hand-on job!  It's not for the faint hearted either!
