I dreaded this day, the day when I have to say goodbye to my beloved Chinese Crested, Kato, hes had such a tough little life of 10 years with two strokes and now his Kidneys have finally let him go.
I have been going through how I will cope letting him go and then how I will cope feeling so alone, I will returned home tonight with still his bed and blanket at my bedside and I will swear I can still feel hes there.
I know I am lucky to have my partner, but its still not the same Kato gave me so much unconditional love & cuddles.
Thank you all, I just needed to say something and typing it seems to mean its longer lasting.

Rachel, so sorry to learn about Kato.  Although your little guy is no longer with you try and remember his happier and healthier times.  While nursing him you have been going through a very stressful and emotional time too and now that he's gone a lot of pent up feelings will be released which will be hard for you to deal with.  Talk about him as much as you can - don't feel awkward or embarassed about it.  It's so much harder in the long run when we try to soldier on :-(

Take care, Teri

Hi.
Sorry to hear of your very sad loss - I went through the exact thing last month when I lost my beloved boxer dog, Schubert.  I did what you did - put my feelings on this website - a kind lady replied and knew a boxer that needed a home.  I thought no other dog could possibly come close to Schubert - I loved him so much I thought there couldn't possibly be any more love for another dog. 5 weeks later I am the proud "mum" of Merlin who is helping to ease the pain.  Schubert was so special and I miss him like crazy but it does get easier and knowing you loved, spoilt and looked after your dog really well, helps too.  You gave him the best life you could so remember all the hundreds of good times and talk about him as often as you need.  I hope this helps and one day you think of him without crying.
