before i started working for my current boss he bought a lab (baloo) off my previous boss, he intended the lab to do search and rescue/water rescue, Baloos training has been coming on atreat but he was afraid of the water and refused to go in past his knees :D , today i took my sister to work with me and decided that she could be my 'guinea pig' (we havent had any for a while) sent her off to hide in the woods made sure she crossed a stream and hid completely, and boy was i proud Baloo found her everytime even though he had never tracked across water before, so after 3 successful finds we went for a run and a play, i took with us a floating bouy toy attached to 40ft of rope so that if he didnt get it i sill had it, well baloo can now go one step further in his training, he now swims no problem either goes into the water by running or launches himself off a fishing swim if the bouy is out of reach he uses his noggin and uses the rope to pull it in, only problem is now its hard to keep him out of the water (as a lab should be)
