If it was not a permanant condition I would say is it kennel cough but if it is there all year long when the sun shines then I would try Piriton. Think may be I would have his eyes checked to make sure that there is not a problem there.

thanks guys,im not sure how long hes had it for,but its at least for this season, when its sunny anyway.the owner breeds gsds ,although this dog is a collie/WS,she does not want to go down the medication route,
we had heard that if you take honey from local bees,it really helps with the pollen from where you live but obvisley this would not be of any use when the shows are all over the country.

Would suggest that a short coarse of Piriton was tried if only to ascertain that it is an allergy and not an infection.

A homoepathic vet would be able to make up an allergen remedy for the dog.

thanks you two,i will pass on the info!

I used to have a Labrador who suffered from hay fever. She never really had a big problem, just used to have a fit of sneezing when you needed her to be quiet!
Best wishes, John

No cos I am not a homeopath :D
I only use the stuff :)
You can buy "off the peg" remedies like "mixed pollen" and give to the dog or you can treat the particular symptoms with various remedies. However to be truly effective and treat the cause the dog must of course be diagnosed with a specific allergy then the homoeopathic vet will make up a specific potentised allergen eg house mites, pollens, etc and/or treat with a constitutional remedy.
There are what I call the First Aid remedies of homeopathy which most people can use without a problem for identified acute conditions and then the remedies which need to be recommended by a homoeopath for chronic conditions which may need to be tweaked and changed to deal with the real underlying CAUSE of the symptomatic condition which may not be immediately apparent to the lay person.
Allergies are just a symptom of immune dysfunction.
