i have very lively boxer who wants to play non stop, she gets plenty of walks and attention and training but still has endless buckets of energy, i'm thinking of getting her a companion to romp around with do you think this is a good idea i was thinking of an older dog to teach her some manners

Buying another dog will not teach your dog manners - you have to do that!! Only buy another dog if YOU want another dog, but I think you should try doing some more training with your bitch first. You don't say how old she is, but teaching her that she should lie down and be quiet when you don't want her bouncing around will help. Also, if you buy an older dog, he/she may not have the manners you want anyway and you'll end up with 2 dogs bouncing around!
