Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Eye problems in a Clumber Spaniel

Can anybody recommend a treatment for a Clumber`s eyes. Chloe is 9 years old and for several years has suffered with a dry eye. We constantly have to clean the yellow matter from her eyes and have tried several remedies from the Vet...some very expensive, yet nothing seems to work.
She must be uncomfortable , but like the true stalwart she is, she never grumbles.
We would love to find something to help.

To be honest, many spaniels have eye problems which no vets treatment can solve - it's often due to poor breeding.

My cocker has a similar problem - I've tried various things from the vets and have a drawer-full of things which don't work.  What I've found that works is to wipe the eyes everyday and remove the gunk.  My dog is fine with it - he's not uncomfortable.

Try asking on www.cockersonline.co.uk.  Although it obviously aimed at cockers, I'm sure everyone on there would love to see someone with a Clumber - they are lovely dogs and not usually seen.
