Topic Dog Boards / General / Feeling unusually frustrated....
- By Jo-Basset [gb] Date 18.08.04 16:32 UTC
Think I'm probably asking for a kick up the rear here, and please feel free...but I'm uncharacteristically feeling frustrated over such a silly thing at the moment. :( I know I have a stubborn hound by nature, but when Rosie comes to me and nudges her toy against me for a play...I've nearly always responded with either tuggy or we go outside for fetch sessions. What seems to be happening more and more, is that as soon as she's got my attention, she loses all concentration and goes off to do her own thing. The same example has just happened now - she nudged me with her rugby ball...I responded with the usual excited "shall we play?"...gone straight outside with her where I threw the ball, she excitedly goes to fetch...and then immediately shows no further interest, however excited I sound, and goes off to sniff the shrubbery. Of course this happens if she's distracted with a noise or exciting smell, I recognise these signs and fully understand the level of added interest they bring...but aside from this, I am wondering if she's merely calling the shots on my attention. I do work full time, but from home...and I've not been at all busy at present...so really can't see that she lacked in attention over the last few weeks she's been doing this.
What do you think?....I'm trying to tell myself that perhaps I'm just tired...but patience is something I've got oodles of (or so I thought)
I'm relying on you to give it to me straight...and do what you're so good at - point out the obvious ;)

I think she's trained you beautifully :D

I can't comment - Willis manages to turn me around on my chair to get attention - and I reward him every time by giving in  :D

Many thanks for that Chloe, a LOL was just what I needed. So, it could merely be a "running rings around me"' scenario
....think I'll get the bottle opener out & 'chill'   ;)

If she is anything like my breed then toys are not waht really float their boat.  I would say she plays with them to humour you but would much rather lead you off on some exciting scent trail, which is what floats her boat :D :D :D
