From the BBC: Great Britain remain in contention for team gold in three-day eventing. After the cross country, Britain lie third behind France and Germany following excellent displays from Mary King, Leslie Law and William Fox-Pitt. But Pippa Funnell's hopes of an individual medal suffered a huge setback on Tuesday when she finished 41st of the 75 competitors.
I watched the rounds this morning and poor Pippa's very big and fast 17hh horse struggled with the fairly small (in comparison to what they are used to jumping!) XC course and she had to fight him all the way round to try and slow him up enough to jump them safely...but William FP jumped a fantastic round. She had a brilliant day yesterday getting the full ten marks for the extended trot in the dressage - made all the hairs stand up on the back of my neck it did!! COME ON TEAM GB - Showjumping tomorrow!!

I was watching it as well ..in fact I am so sad, I recorded it because we took the dogs out for a walk whilst it was still relatively cool here :) SO exciting watching the cross country but quite a bland course I felt ....what did you think?

no roads and tracks in the new format is there so no wonder she had a hard time of it round the X country; rather her than me anyway

I totally agree, I thought it was a bland course ....Pippa's horse looked huge on the course too...I did feel sorry for her really. He just popped over them but seemed quite unbalanced and I was having minor heart attacks every time she seemed to get a little bit unseated. I thought William FP flew round though and did you see that French grey - the one who's rider dropped the reins - he was seriously motoring around there! The "pony" type jumpers seemed to do far better.
I thought the course was very straight-forward this year, even i could have jumped it (dreaming maybe?!) :-D. We really needed a more difficult course to give us an advantage as our riders are all usually superb across country. I suppose the trouble is that they need to be fair to the less experienced nations in this type of competition.
Pippa's dressage was brilliant but we knew that the french would be a big threat. Fingers crossed for tomorrows SJ! :)

Just heard on TV William F-P's horse is out with a stifle fractured in 4 places :-(

:( :( :(
