Ok, well, lets see. My dog continues to break out, and hang around guy dogs. Today, I noticed her stomach is a bit larger than usual, and shes trying to eat a lot more than she usually did. So, Im very confused. I don't know if shes expecting or not. Cna anyone tell me some signs to look for, so I can tell? Thanks!

I think you are either winding us up or you shouldn't have a dog at all.
I would think theres only one course of action for you to take if this is true...take your dog to a rehoming centre where it will be properly cared for and then rehomed with a decent owner

Signs you need to look for:
1. Was I daft enough to allow my bitch to break out and get mated accidentally
2. Was I daft enough not to notice this and therefore not take her to the vets to deal with it
3. Was I daft enough to get a bitch, not have her spayed and then allow her to break out and get mated accidentally
4. Am I so daft as to have a dog that I can't look after that gets out and has puppies that I am clearly not clever enough to look after either.
If you answer yes to any of the above, then take the dog BACK to where you got her and get a stuffed one.

Lol......:-) ChloeH

Ok, fine whatever. I just came here looking for help....I'll go find someone else...

whatever. Also, I didn't LET her break out. She digs holes, and so we got a chain her on. Sometimes, my mother lets her off, and she breaks out. That's how it happened. I didn't get her spayed because she was ill when we took her there, and they said they couldn't fix her. All I wanted to know was what the signs were, so that I could be sure.....

How long ago did all this happen, if you look back on another thread, it says you can still have the morning after jab quite a while after the deed happened! Just found the previous thread called 'what are the early signs of preg. ' apparently this injection can be given up to 45 days after mating, so it may not be too late!
You could also get her spayed and have the litter removed at the same time.
Any bitch in season shouldn't be left alone in the garden, even with a chain on, dogs will come from all over the neighbourhood and even climb a 6' high fence to get to her.
I just hope 'if' she is pregnant, that the stud dog isn't a huge dog or you and your bitch are going to run into serious difficulties, she'll probably end up having a section - which is going to cost you, also how old did you say she was?? If she is too young/old again you will run into complications. You could end up losing both mum and pups! :-(
I hope she's not pregnant and that you get her sorted out before her next season so this can't happen again.

I really dont want to kill the puppies...i would feel horrible.Only if Honey will die because of them.. I have no clue who they father is, but she is a kinda small dog. I have no clue how old she is, but she followed me home, was sent to the pound, and i adopted her. I really have no background info. on her, except many people have told me she looks like a bulldog....And the other thing is, I didn't know she was in season, because my other dog was fixed when we got her, so I never had this problem before. All I really want to know, is how to tell, so I can be very sure about this....

take her to the vet and get her scanned, that's the only way to be sure, , if she is bulldog then it will probably be c section..........I hope you're prepared for the expense that follows, you're going to end up with a litter that is going to cost big time to raise and you'll get hardly anything back, certainly not enough to cover your out goings!
Good luck, I think you're going to need it!

if this dog is your mums then it will be upto her if she has a litter or not.the vets should be able to give you an idea on her age by looking at her teeth.
you need to get her to the vets and be checked out.
i don't agree with chains etc,if i can handle my leo with out chaining him up! then i don't see the need on a lot smaller dog.if you know she will get out the garden then you need to make it safe by what ever means are needed.
we are all dog owners/lovers on here and i know your asking for advice but you have to understand none of us agree with lettting a dog stray or un planned litters.
what has your mum said about the situtation regarding the dog?

If this is as true as the postee says, I would get the bitch to the vet as soon as possible... you will need all the help you can get, especially if she needs a c-section, we are talking alot of money... I would much rather choose to spay and lose the pups, then a much loved pet!! If you have no idea about the father it could be anything from a Great Dane to a Toy poodle, one never knows! Is it really worth the risk? I would say if you really love your pet then no it is not worth risking her life over a litter that was never planned for one, two you have no idea about the history of the sire, three do you have a large savings account, cause you will need it and more!! Have her spayed, prevent any problems like this happening again.. hope all goes well at your vet check.

The dog is mine, but my mother won't take her to the vet. She says if she is she is, and she'll have the puppies...Bue, I don't want her to die...ill have to persuade my mom. Thanks guys
Just so you are aware of what the cost are, my Golden Retreiver had to have a C section 5 weeks ago just the section alone was £520.00, that is before buy food bedding and all the necessary worming treatments etc etc.
As I say I am now 5 weeks down the road and think so far with food etc I have spent close on £1000.00, and rising.
Having a litter of puppy's is no easy task, I wish you lots of luck

If you cannot afford a possible c section and the cost of raising a litter I would advise you sign her over to a rescue centre where they will make sure she is ok.
Think to yourself....you can keep her and risk her dying or be unselfish and do the right thing by the bitch and put her welfare first.

I think we've already established OhGee is in the States, where not all 'rescues' are so positive about a pregnant bitch :(

yeah what happen to the dog and how old are you exactly? if u are dependant on ur mom payin etc i am 21 and have 2 sibes which are alot of work but are def worth it but u have to make sure u make there environment safe so they cant get out for example i have had to pay out £1400 just on proper fencing so it is high enough and low enough with concrete gravel boards so they cant dig under. i to disagree with chains u should make sure ur garen is equipped for a dog in all areas as most are escape artist not have tem tied up because u cant provide for them!
i hope if u didnt go to the vets (which wud have been a big mistake) that she is ok!
as for not knowin her history i have had many rescue dogs in my life and if we choose to have a bitch we would make sure she was spayed or get her done the first week!
and for not knowin about comin into season etc u shouldnt have a dog if u cant be asked to reseacrh the breed or even basic sex and all the ups and downs etc of having a bitch or dog!
