Hi there, this is not a real concern but I thought I would post to see if anybody had any opinions/advice. We have had max for 7 weeks and he is very settled. He does most things we tell him (unless he is doing something very exciting) he loves his training class he sleeps he eats he plays and is a pleasure to own. Since day 1 we have put him in a puppy crate every night and when we leave him in the day. He has his bed in there some toys which we rotate except his fave cuddly elephant and of course a water bowl. The crate door is open all day and sometimes he chooses to sleep there in the day and sometimes he doesnt. He happily goes in there everytime with the command in your bed. He knows the signs of bed time and when we are going out and tends to get in his crate without us even telling him. Anyway (sorry I am getting to the point) last night after a totally normal day with no changes he got in his bed and then as soon as we got upstairs he started to bark and whine. I was quite perplexed as he didnt even do this on his first night. We (huuby and I) stood at the top of the stairs not quite sure what to do. We knew he was safe and had everything he needed and had just been in the garden and done a number 1 and 2. We have a friend who got max's litter sister who is having a nightmare as she goes to her every noise she makes and has hardly had any sleep for 7 weeks so we didnt really want to rush to him as knew he would learn very quickly that his noise gained him attention. ANyway he carried on for what seemed like forever but was actually only 3 minutes and then all was quiet. I crept down and peeked through crack in door and he was lying in bed looking glum but appeared fine so I gratefully crawled into bed . This was midnight and all was quiet till 6am when he started again. We normally get up at 7am everyday and he has never made a sound before this time and is often asleep when we go down at 7. I did get up at 6 when he started as it was light and I was worried he had an upset tummy or something. He was fine and pretty much immediatle y curled up behing favourite armchair and went back to sleep?! Didnt want to go into garden. What on earth was all that about? He is totally normal today but am worried he will make a fuss again tonight? ANy ideas? Sorry I have gone on for so long.

hi it looks like the honeymoon period is over with max, he will now be testing the boundaries!!As long as he has had a wee etc and has water And is safe in his cage i would leave him to bark, he will soon get the message!my four have all tried this after the fiRst couple of weeks cos they want to be with us, and not in their cage!gOOD LUCK!!

Has it been very warm? My 13 month old rescue Beardie goes in his crate at night and is usually very good but last week he was restless and yelped a bit. I let him out 3 times with no result so decided it must have been the hot weather. it lasted for 3 nights then stopped again. Mind you it could be Max was just trying it on

thanx guys I think you are probably right I think he was probably trying it on. I hope he doesnt do it for long as I felt so guilty ignoring him but I definitley dont want him to think it is worth his time to make a fuss. I need my sleep!! It was just so weird as he didnt even whimper on his first night! After 7 weeks I thought we had it nailed really. Oh well I will just have to see what happens tonight! Fingers crossed!!!
