Take a look at this ad on ad-mart.
I had the mis-pleasure of browsing and was quite literally shocked by some of them!!
This woman should be ashamed of herself!

http://www.ad-mart.co.uk/cgi-bin/classifieds/classifieds.cgi?db=pet&website=&language=&session_key=&search_and_display_db_button=on&results_format=long&db_id=28145&query=retrieval

sorry, not sure how to do links

STOP giving them even MORE advertising!!
- By Merlin [gb] Date 16.08.04 10:40 UTC
God!
No need to take that tone!
I was only showing you somethng which I felt very upsetting and disturbing!
- By katyb [gb] Date 16.08.04 10:49 UTC
can she not give them to a rescue centre and surely she knew about the move abroad before now? not many people move abroad within 2 weeks??
- By Merlin [gb] Date 16.08.04 10:53 UTC
Hi Katyb
This is what I wondered, so I emailed her and asked her why she was more prepared to have them PTS than offer them a nice home, it seemed to me to be very money grabbing. I also pointed out that no vet (with morals) would be likely to put any healthy animal to sleep due to such a lame reason.
Its very distressing that some people think like this.

She replied to me asking if I wanted to make an offer on one, or if I was just being nosey.

Merlin ..every time someone on CD posts the whole advert link , as you have just done, it gives more advertising , free advertising! Many, many people read the forums without registering
- By Merlin [gb] Date 16.08.04 11:13 UTC
Well why not explain that rather than yelling your head off?!?!
Anyway, I have seen this sort of thing before, people saying about pups on ebay etc...its very easy to find, especially if the item number is given.

Merlin if I stuck my head in the oven would you just cos its been seen before doesnt make it right does it.
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 16.08.04 11:19 UTC
How very constructive  - sorry, don't normally bother with the board when it gets bitchy, but did we all get out of bed the wrong side this morning?

Please stop and re-read your posts before pressing the button to send them, and let's all be a little nicer to each other?

my thoughts exactly. I am often shocked with the tone people take sometimes.
- By Merlin [gb] Date 16.08.04 11:27 UTC
Satincollie...where did that come from? I hardly think I deserve and eye roll. I didnt put the post up because others had done so, I just saw the ad and thought I would share it with other doggie minded people because I was upset by it! I shall clearly have to think much much harder next time before I post to avoid a witch hunt!
- By katyb [gb] Date 16.08.04 11:29 UTC
dont take it personally merlin. Most people on here are caring responsible dog owners otherwise they wouldnt register and be interested in reading all the boards so we are not going to entertain people like the woman advertising her dogs. It is good we get to hear about these things so we can complain and raise awareness.
- By Merlin [gb] Date 16.08.04 11:37 UTC
Thank you Katyb, x. I only posted it, as I said, because I was so shocked that anyone would consider putting an innocent animal to sleep, especially when they claim to want a whole load of money for it. Surely a free rehoming would be better....I am just shocked at the way some people think.
- By satincollie (Moderator) Date 16.08.04 11:33 UTC
I thought Melody made alot of sense hence the eye roll when you replied attacking her for pointing this out to you.
Sometimes even the most calm among us get irritated Marina but hadly really bitchy ;)
- By Merlin [gb] Date 16.08.04 11:39 UTC
Satincollie, she may well have made a lot of sense, and yes I agree, perhaps I shouldnt have put it up, but I seriously disagree with the way she went about saying it. It was rude and there was no need for it.
Please dont eye roll me, I hardly attacked her, it was the other way around, she attacked me
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 16.08.04 11:34 UTC
I actually think that the comment from Marina was directed at me and not you ;) There is no witch hunt ...how one post constitutes a witch hunt I don't know :)

There has been an increase of these threads recently ..some giving free advertising to bad breeders and some going on and on about Ebay. I apologise to you Merlin for capitalising two words. I don't apologise for the post's content though ...it is high time people woke up to what they are doing when they post a thread like this.

Edited to correct

I never thought Marinas was aimed at me, I didnt aim mine at her, I aimed it at yourself and satincollie
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 16.08.04 11:41 UTC
Actually Mel, it was referring specifically to the comment about 'putting heads in ovens', which I don't think I've heard since I've left school.  However, in general, I've read a few posts on here this morning and decided to ignore the topic.

So, a fairly generic plea to re-read things to see if they could be misconstrued - we are all aware how harsh the written word can appear, so just wise to review and see if emphasis needs changing.

I may be a tad too cynical - but I have often wondered if some of the "look at this, how shocking" posts have actually been put in to actually MAKE people look at what is being advertised......

Margot (ducking back under the parapet)!!

I read it and thought it was really sad! perhaps the "will be put to sleep" bit is to make someone feel sorry for the dogs and buy them, (emotional balckmail?) in which case thats even worse! :-(

lol@don't eye roll me...that's too funny...lol@virtual eye rolling...cute
