Please get yourself a copy of The Book of the Bitch, it's by Evans and White. This book will take you step by step through all the life stages of owning bitches, including pregnancy and whelping.
Can the breeder of your bitch not give you advice and support. How much experience do you have with dogs? Most of us need a buddy to help us along at the time of a first litter.

Please post back and we on Champdogs will help as much as we can at a distance.

Thank you Im going to look for that book... I think it will be helpfull ... this was actually an accidental breeding we were trying to find a boston terrier stud for our bitch one with good blood line one that would improve the breed standard. And in the last week of her season the a/c at our house went out so I took her to my grandmothers so she could stay in the cool air for the day and my grand father noticed the nieghbors male rat terrier around the yard so he told the man to put his dog up and he did but never the less Nature does call and g-father put her outsid to go pee and the rat was n where to be seen so he thought she was safe ( she was in a chain link fence) he came back about 10 min later the little devil from across the street had dug under his fence and my grandparents fence.... so this was not the exact way this should have happend... the rat terrier is a rigisterd rat. and they both repesent their breed standard great. so here goes..

It's unfortunate that you did not know that your vet could have administered a drug by injection, that would have avoided this pregnancy. It has to be done within a day or two though. Are you aware that Boston Terriers have a very high incidence of requiring a C section to deliver pups. What size is a Rat Terrier? I do hope this works out safely for your bitch, but I think you may have a potentially dangerous situation on your hands. I think it might be an idea to speak to your vet anyway, and ask some advice.

An injection can still be administered

ALIZIN

Induced abortion in the bitch up to 45 days of mating

Alizin is a non aqueous injectable solution containing anti progestative ingredient aglepristone.  It is intended to be injected subcutaneously to induce abortion in the bitch, for 0-45 days from mating.  In bitches treated after 20 days of gestation, abortion is accompanied by the physiological signs of parturition, fetal expultion, slight anorexia and mamary congestion.  After abortion with Alizin an early return to oestrus is frequentley observed, ostreus is shortend by 1 to 3 months.
Hope this helps. Dean
