I'd have thought it very much depends on the breed - some just have faces only a mother could love........ Unless there is some kind of genetic defect such os a jaw problem - has your vet seen the pup?

How can a puppy be ugly, I bet his face just has a lot of 'character' !
my youngest cocker had a huge domed head when we first got him, he did look a bit strange to be honest, my sister said he had an egg-head! However, he did "grow into" his skull, and now is one of the most handsome boys! (not that i'm biased or anything!!) :D

Don't know much about ugly pups ;) but do know my cat Oscar was the ugliest critter I had ever seen as a kitten, it didn't help he had been ill treated and had no whiskers (they had been pulled out) and many many healing scabby cigarette/cigar burn on his body. :( Plus the fact he is predominately grey (he should have been white) with a few ginger bits.
Now at almost 22 he is the most handsome cat I have seen, he sort of grew into his looks, plus a wash and the scabs going did help :)
So I say choose the ugly ducklings they turn out to be swans :D
PS His sister (well found in same black bin bag anyhow) Cleo was the most enchanting and gorgeous kitten in the world and is still the same now also at almost 22. So maybe the swans stay swans too :D

lol, the poster is only being honest, nowhere has he/she said that the dog is unloved.
One of my dogs was really ugly as a pup, he had an undershot jaw and just looked soo funny but he turned out to be a handsom lad. Although now he is getting on a bit he seems to be looking a bit funny again and most people say he is ugly lol but I wouldnt change him for the world.

One of my cocker spaniels was quite the ugly duckling to start with, but now is so beautiful everybody comments on HIM saying he's too pretty to be a boy!! :-)

Once upon a time someone had a litter and each time a customer came they all said that they did not want the ugly one and so the breeder kept it. It became an extremely famous and successful dog in its field that is still discussed today! So you never know!
I'm sorry, but I havee yet to meet an ugly puppy. Puppies are adorable!!!!

The ugly ones can only get better and the beautiful ones worse :d Have known many not exactly what I'd call ugly pups become the best of the litter when they've got older :d :d
