Hi all, does anyone know if there is a website that shows you how to draw dogs?

No sorry bex i dont. It might be better if you got a book for a bookshop. Do you have a shop called 'the works' near you it quite a cheap shop but it has good drawing books there. Anyway what breed of dogs do you have?

Not really found any good website for animal drawings, but there was a good book around when i was learning to draw horses. Im pretty certain there was a dog one as well.

Draw 50 Horses was by Lee J Ames, ill see if there is one on amazon.

Would just like to say that drawing in general is good practice for drawing animals of all kinds.  The same principles are involved, areas of light, shade, proportions, angles, textures etc. whether its a dog or a person or a tree or an apple you are using the same observations and decisions.

Not teaching how to draw animals specifically but excellent advice on drawing and painting etc...  with tutorials and discussion boards covering animals of all kinds at

http://www.wetcanvas.com/

There are tutorial links on the right hand side of the page here

Getting books about the anatomy (preferably with pictures!) of the animals you are interested in is a good idea.

Also books which explain in simple terms perspective and proportions.

Generally, perspective and proportions are the things people have major problems with, so practicing that is good, (with anything, doesnt have to be an animal!).

Other things to look at are light and shadow. Whenever you draw anything , set in your head where the light source is coming from.

Practice by drwing a cube, draw it several times and each time alter the light source, and therefore change the shadowing.
