I have a nine week cavalier pup which I picked up 6days ago. She came from a supposedly reputable breeder, is of excellent pedigree and I have checked all the necessary health issues. She was full of worms (and I mean full!) which I have dealt with and she is now able to eat properly and is now much happier and settled. Unfortunately I can't start housetraining as she wee's so frequently. She puddles every five/ten minutes for the first hour after waking, then settles to a more normal fifteen/twenty minutes until she sleeps again. She only passes about 4 ml each time and I can't see any trace of blood so presume its not an infection. She can do a good puddle if she sleeps long enough. Is this normal? All my other cavaliers have been more or less housetrained in the first couple of weeks baring wet day accidents. The puppies I have recently bred were housetrained before leaving us and have remained so in their new homes. Once passed the five week stage they certainly did not wee this often. Do you think this a purely immaturity or do I need to seek vets advice.

Me personally I would have her checked out...Does she drink alot if so then it could be a urin infection the more they drink the easier it is to pee so it doesn't sting which will cause her to pee often...If she doesn't drink alot and she has a urin infection it would sting for her to pee which could be why she pee's so often maybe she is holding onto it and only going a lil at a time cause it hurts....Best to be safe then sorry I would have her checked out, Is your breeder aware of her being full of worms?

Thanks for the advice. No she does not drink excessively but I have decided to get her checked out at vets, she needs her injections anyway but I wanted her well before then. Yes I have informed the breeder but she claims to have wormed her but with Sherleys wormer not panacur.

I do hope nothing serious and the best of luck :)

I have found that some bitch puppies easily get JUVENILE VAGINITIS/CYSTITIS for some reason, it is cleared up very quickly with a course of antibiotics.Nothing to worry about but she needs to go to the vets ASAP.
