sorry long winded question and is genuine, i have been looking for a dog for a while now and have recently been given the opp to rescue 2 of breed im after, the "breeder" in question says she needs to rehome them due to council saying she has too many, which is fair enough. when i asked about the dogs she said they are a "breeding pair" so i told her bitch would be spayed asap as i know nothing about breeding. on asking her questions she says shes only had them 8 month, there not vaccinated and have never lived indoors. she wants no money for them but says she will agree payment on breeding terms ie the cost of 2 pups and the stud of the dog. is this common practise, the dogs are 4 and 5, would they make good pets if there used to living outside. any advice greatly recieved

As Chloe & Melody say - NO NO NO AND NO!!!! - but notify her Council what she is proposing - as she is still trading in dogs!

It sounds like a story for heartbreak, I'm afraid.

Sounds to me like she wants you to do the breeding for her  (definately a bad move if you have no experience, its much more difficult to do properly than is generally thought) and is trying to avoid coouncil regs, not to mention dealing in dogs.

RUN AWAY very fast NOW ;)

My god what kind of irresponsible person would sell two dogs as a 'breeding pair' to someone with no experience of breeding !! - she sounds like a puppy farmer to me - stay well clear !

... and make sure the local council dog warden is aware of her suggestions.  Please.

As others have said, if you register you can let us know more details.  Many on here will be pleased to help.
