Can you show a bitch if she has been spayed?
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 09.08.04 14:16 UTC
Yes.  You need to write and tell the Kennel Club - it is no longer a matter of 'asking for permission' as the rules have been changed that all neutered dogs can be shown, not just in particular circumstances.

She will appear in catalogues with (Neut) after her name.

Ok thanks does it go against the bitch if she has been done?
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 09.08.04 14:30 UTC
Assuming she is not allowed to get fat, and the coat in your breed doesn't have a tendency to change texture, then judges shouldn't really be any the wiser to be honest.  Now, males are an entirely different prospect .........

Why is that?

Obvious to the naked eye, whereas a speyed bitch isn't.

I didnt know that ?
The breed standard for SBT says the dog should have two fully descended testicles ?

Yes, and therein lies the problem with males - judges argue that the standard says this, the KC don't change the standards ..... people then argue that the dog could have been monorchid/cryptorchid and the neutering hides this .........

Another good idea not entirely thought through.
