Topic Dog Boards / General / What would the breeders think?
- By Nikki B [gb] Date 08.08.04 23:29 UTC
I have just been going through the classified ads online, and i come across a dog from a reputable kennel thats listed on this site, now wouldnt the breeders like the opportunity to take it back? As if it were one of my pups i would, i have heard of the kennel before and im sure the breeder of the dog would like to know about the sale of him especially as the dog has been used for breeding as it states on the advert. Just to save the dog falling into the wrong hands.

If anyone wants to know about this pm me.
Nikki.

Perhaps you could narrow it down to a breed Nikkie B ?
- By madstaffy [gb] Date 09.08.04 07:05 UTC
Hi niki
I think i know which add your talking about, the person is also asking a large amount of money for this dog.
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 09.08.04 07:10 UTC
A *good* breeder would have put endorsements on the dog before selling him, surely? Not sure what breed you are talking about, but I know that in Malamutes, all responsible breeders endorse their dogs and only lift those endorsements if the owner has proved that the dog or bitch is a good example of the breed and has fulfilled all the other criteria

Is it the Dane you are talking about ? Must say i was shocked when i saw the ad...nice little earner for them obviously and only a young dog wasnt he too ? :(

Assuming it's the ad for * No Limit talked about here, think ChloeH would be interested to see it, as he's a litter brother to Willis :(

I read the ad, (at least I think I know the one your talking about).

what do you mean by "the wrong hands"?

surely (this is just IMO) if someone is prepared to pay the asking price which again (IMO) is a little high, this would deter anyone who is not genuine?
- By Carla Date 09.08.04 09:59 UTC
He's younger than Willis if he was 18 months when the photo was taken - going by the date on the pic - Willis is 2...but I think they are by the same sire. I've mailed it to the relevant person - I'm sure she'll be less than impressed. :( There's a harley further down the page from someone "not bothered about bitches being KC"!!
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 09.08.04 10:00 UTC
Definitely from the same litter, Carla, I looked it up.

Thats interesting - Willis was born in August - so why are they saying he's only 18 months??
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 09.08.04 10:06 UTC
Because they're thick as two short planks ...... because people will then see a longer life of £800 stud fees ........... who knows ?

Also an ad on there for two 10 month old pups 'blue with unique black markings' - that'll be mis-marked merles then.  Still, there'll be a fool along shortly, I've no doubt.

Depressing reading these ads, isn't it?

Intensely depressing - not to mention no hipscoring, no advice, not a decent breeder amongst them.

Is Kris still breeding blues - I might be interested in a blue bitch from hipscored parents soon....?
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 09.08.04 10:59 UTC
Plus the bitch is a litter sister to No Regrets, so very close breeding ........

Yes, Kris is still breeding blues, but we're no longer on speaking terms ;)

Yes i was talking about the dane there was an advert on there a few weeks ago from the same person offering a bitch for sale once she has had her pups :(
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 09.08.04 10:07 UTC
The bitch is also from Jo, so expect she might like to know that too .........

- By sam Date 14.08.04 09:12 UTC
on a similar topic if anyone has sold a harlequin GD to the devon area....it would now be 7 months old....then there is one being advertised here for sale due to change of circs. I will let you have tel. details if you think it could be one of yours.

Hi,

The ad on e-bay about this litter has been removed following all the complaints.

Briony
- By marie [in] Date 14.08.04 22:55 UTC
so it should too. i use e bay but how do they get them on in the first place? i would have thought they could do checks to make sure no livestock is listed and if there is remove it before others have to tell them its there.
who in their right mind would sell animals on the bay to start with...sicko's.
the only good thing i suppose you could get their email and tell them what for! just a thought.
- By jane [gb] Date 15.08.04 06:34 UTC
I have been told that EBay dont actually monitor the ads placed - they call it 'self monitoring', i.e. they expect that the members themselves will report anything that is out of line to EBay - saves them a few wages I guess !!!!
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 15.08.04 07:09 UTC
Yeah ...until you realise HOW many ads are placed on Ebay every day ...and, don't forget, there are several Ebay sites ..UK , USA, Australia to name but 3. It would be impossible job to monitor every ad that gets placed on Ebay
- By poppynurse [gb] Date 15.08.04 18:28 UTC
Wouldn't have thought it would be impossible to put a filter on the words 'puppy' 'dog' or 'bitch' for example and then either not put them on or have them checked by a person rather than automatically upload - like a spam filter on email...or perhaps they're not interested in ethics just cash :(
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 15.08.04 18:39 UTC
The trouble being that LOTS of legitimate items with the word DOG or LITTER or PUPPY are sold ...have a look for yourself on Ebay and you will see
- By poppynurse [gb] Date 15.08.04 19:05 UTC
I appreciate that but with modern technology it would be possible to block these ads if they put their mind to it :)
- By briony [gb] Date 15.08.04 20:23 UTC
Hi,

They perhaps rely on the general public saves them time and money?

Briony
- By SaraN [gb] Date 22.08.04 11:18 UTC
The thing is people use those words for items as well such as ''Beautiful painting of a litter of puppies''..so they couldnt really block the words... as people say ebay is to large to monitor on just live puppies and at least when people alert their attention to it they stop the sale which is good. I think the best thing is if we, ebay sellers/ customers, just let ebay know when weve found an illegal selling.
