We used to have a Dogue de Bordeaux (turner and Hooch dog)and it was always slobbering and we had to take pieces of cut up towels with us every where to clean him.
Do the St Bernard drool and slobber as much.
Is the film Beathoven over exagerated on this subject.

Some times you will read that a dog does not slobber but I have never found a dog with large and loose jowls or flews that does not slobber and usually strings of it. Most dogs will drool if shown food but not continually.

I had a st bernard once, yeah they slobber.  We used to call it Ollie slime

Judging by the few St Bernards I've met, the film understates the slobber ...

i know some and they slobber alot
even my american cockers do a bit i think most breeds do but to diffrent extents

I HAVE A SAINT AND YES THEY DO SLOBBER LOTS, ESPECIALLY WHEN FOOD IS AROUND BUT DO NOT LET THIS DETERE YOU FROM THE PLEASURE A SAINT CAN GIVE YOU..AT THE END OF THE DAY IT CAN BE WIPED OFF .WE HAVE LOTS OF FUN TRYING TO OUTRUN OUR DOG WHEN HE WANTS TO DEPOSIT  HIS DROOL ON US.

I met a St Bernard once and he slobbered up my arm - it was slimy and it stank. I was nearly sick!

My Portia mainly slobbers when shes eaten or drank, but I carry a towel everywhere. She knows I will wipe her before I stroke her. She smells lovely, and her slobber doesn't smell at all.
She smelt terrible afew days back as her old owners hadn't bathed her or groomed her and she had huge mats.

We feel very fortunate, as she is 1 and we know that her temprement is  sound. Puppies can go either way, each has it's own personality.
She is 28" tall at the moment. I am not sure if she has finished growing yet!

She hasn't chewed and is 100% housetrained, and she is great with my kids.

It's true taht saying - now I have owned a Saint I will always own one.

I think it depends on the breeding, Portia (my Saint) doesn't drool too much, but another I saw drooled terribly as her whole skin on her face hung way too much - I couldn't see her eyes at all.
