My dad died 2 days ago, he was a lovely man, his dog, a collie called Meg has since only come out of my dads bedroom to eat and for a walk.
My dads wife popped out for 40 mins to go shopping, when she came back the police were there with an ambulance, they wouldn't let my dads wife in because it wouldn't have been good for her to see. My dad had lung cancer but seemed to be doing well, it seems his lung gave up and there was alot of blood.
Only Meg was with my dad when he actually died, I can only think she misses him as I do, but I'm so glad she was there.
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I'm sure it is comforting to know that Meg was with your dad, hope she is coping ok xx

How very upsetting for you all, my sincere condolences. Meg being with your dad will no doubt have been a great comfort to him, our dogs definitely sense our needs.
My prayers to you and your family at this very sad time.

Hi Tashina,
I am so sorry. Watching someone die of cancer is very difficult for everyone. How lovely your dad's collie stayed with him to watch and keep him company. He must have been a very special person with a special dog.

we had a similar problem when my mum died many years ago with throat cancer...her dog a boarder collie Tess wouldn't come away from her chair for days my dad even put her food dowm there for her but she didn't touch it..a friend suggested that until she saw my mum and sort of understood she would never get over it ,so my dad with kind people from the funeral directors took Tess to see her in the chapple and allowed her to sniff and in minutes she bagan to whine but stopped as soon as my dad took her out , sounds really morbid and i am so sorry about your loss but it really helped her come to terms with the loss of her master ..she went on for 3 happy years after with my dad but she always slept by mums chair.... Collies are really smart dogs and i think she just didn't understand until she saw for her self..... take care and best wishes from us here x
