I have had the most horrible day :(.  richard, myself and Jazz were involved in a road traffic accident today.  Richard and myself have both got whiplash and severe back pain and Jazz is all shaken up.  I am just hoping that the whole thing doesn't leave Jazz terrifies to go in the car can anyone reassure me or offer their point of view on this?.  The worst of it is the guy who drove into the back of us has given all false details and is well known to the police, we bought the car yesterday and it is a write off and it looks like the other guy had stolen the car.  I am so upset by the whole thing and so angry that people get away with this sort of thing.  Its always the decent honest people who are out of pocket/injured because of others stupidity.

So sorry for you. What a horrible experience - it's bad enough to be in the accident without finding out that the other chap isn't insured etc. Can't help much, but hope that you will all be feeling better soon

Hi Michelle,
Please dont lose faith in your dog.
Myself and my dog were in a car accident on the way to three counties show,[2 years ago]when we were hit from behind by a lorry when stationary at a junction,as he wasnt watching properly and thought we had pulled off.
We also had whiplash injury and needless to say my dog was very frightened as he saw the lorry coming being crated in the back.
We pulled over and immediately i checked him,to find he was lame after banging against the cage but otherwise o.k.
I didnt over react in fussing him as i didnt want him to feel too negative about the experience, although inside i was trembling with rage at the stupid driver.
After a vet check he was ok thank god and soon travelled fine in the car again, although he did pant for a while when first entering a car,but with gentle encouragement and treats in the car he soon was fine.
I know its hard but try not to leave it too long before trying her/him again and just act as if nothing unusual is happening, and see how it goes.
Im sure some will disagree, and i can only tell you how i overcame ours.
Hope you are all well and back to normal soon.

Michelle, what a horrible experience, it is one thing I have a fear of having an RTA with any of the dogs on board. Hope you are feel better today, not just the injury but are also recovering from the shock.

THere is a new DAP spray out now - used to be a plug in (and still is) for stressed out dogs, now it is being marketed also as a spray which may help dogs who are upset by travellling.

Of course it may not work, but i have found great success with the DAP diffuser so would not hesitate to suggest the spray as at least something to try if the dog does seem upset at getting into the car again.Hopefully you will not need it.

Really sorry to hear of your accident, i have had whiplash and it wasn't pleasant. Car went up the back of us as we were sat in the road waiting to turn right. Driver was in the middle of changing a cassette!
