Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / behaviourist/trainer needed
- By pinklilies Date 07.08.04 10:14 UTC
I have been asked by someone with no internet access  to enquire about any recommended behaviourists or trainers in the Sheffield area. It is for an older couple with a 2 year old afghan that has been rehomed with them, and they are struggling a bit, i think mainly with seperation anxiety (they are never out for more than 2 hours). I have tried advice over the phone, recommending books etc but I think they really need to have someone there in person to see how they are behaving with her. I fostered this bitch short term, and had no big problems leaving her. I am due to go on hols soon , otherwise I would try and get there myself.
I hope that we can find someone soon, because they are struggling, and I would hate for them to give up and send her back for rehoming.
All help gratefully received,
Cathy

Hi Cathy,
Have a look at the list of APDT trainers. There is bound to be someone local.

Hi
There is a good training class at Dinnington, I suppose they could get a one to one from there at a sane price and I know someone who everyone thought was untrainable who did well there.
There is another somewhere else your way but I canot remeber where, they were about £ 15 for the course and £00-50P per week for attendance so thats an idea of the cost around there.
Good Luck.

Hi there is a lady called Katy Patmore who is on the ADPT list of trainers. She is in Sheffield up Bannerdale Road area but she did have quite a long waiting time.

It might be worth your friends ringing her up just to discuss their problems and it maybe her list time has come down now. She also does training classes as well.

Val Strong is very good, she is involved with Support Dogs. C Biggins is also excellent but not sure if she is in Sheffield, she is in the area though.
