Hi,

I've recently joined champ dogs and i noticed there are lots of horsey people on here as well.  I was hoping that one of you may have stayed in the Equestrian Centre Hotel in Wrexham?  I have booked myself a week there as a treat after selling my horse and i was wondering how people found it?

I have done a bit of showjumping up to Discovery and a bit of eventing at Pre-nov, I'm currently riding a lovely Fleetwater Opposition youngster that belongs to a friend of mine.  She's into dressage which is handy for making me do flatwork which it Hate! :) I'm hoping to pinch Daisy from her to event next year though! fingers crossed!

Anyway, i'd love any response to my Q about my hols and love to hear about your dogs and horses!

Thanks
Lesley :)

Hello :)

I have 4 neddies: Josh (16.2 IDxTB - my happy hacker gentleman - total star), Smudge 16hh mare - full ID - very nicely mannered, hunted, XC, shown, bit of everything and has done really well with all of it - not with me may I hasten to add! Shah - 14hh chestnut arab mare (does it get any worse!?) and Maddie, a 12.2 welshie x. I don't do jumping but I do enjoy hacking out round leafy country lanes and up canter tracks and I absolutely LOVE spending money on them all :)

They sound like a handful!  The main reason i sold my mare was because i couldn't afford to event and that was what she was really good at, she was my XC machine!  I did a bit of everything with her although she was lethal out hunting!

I really miss Buttons :-( but it's nice not to have to spend all my spare time looking after her for once.  It's been good riding lots of different horses again, this is why i'm having this week away to improve my riding and get rid of the many bad habits i've picked up over the years! :-).

What area do you live in? I'm in Dorset but where i live the hacking is awful, i have to box out to somewhere if i want to do any kind of fastwork.

How did you end up with 4?  I love chestnut mares, mares in general in fact! I don't subscribe to the chestnut mare theory :)

To be honest, they are the easiest out of all my mad houseful of animals :D I keep them at home, they live out 24 x 7 and 2 of them are barefoot. They are all good doers and only get a handful of feedbalancer a day. I wish I had the nerve to jump but I lost all my confidence so I am really lucky with the horses I have as they don't bolt, or buck, are not strong, don't kick or bite and are all very well behaved - I feel extremely lucky to have them :)

My chestnut mare is the most fiesty, but thats because she was abandoned for ten years or so - no one could catch her so they dumped her with a headcollar on that grew in. She taught me a lot and got me into Natural Horsemanship and I love her to bits :)
