
Also does he have just a pedigree with ancestors listed, or a registration certificate also? Is this a Kennel Club registration or one from one of a couple of registries used primarily by puppy farmers and dealers, one such is the Dog Lovers registry.
as the previous poster pointed out, he is unlikely to descend from show quality ancestors, but if he by some fluke has some good breeding in the background, he just might have turned out typical, and you might be able to take him to a show and see how he com-pares with his peers.
I would just enjoy him for himself (show at Exemption shows which are run for charity), and if you are interested in showing then attend some shows over the next year or so, especially cocker shows, and see which of the winning kennels type appeals, and also learn about the intricacies of show coat preparation (you will be able to practice on your lad) and in a couple of years you will be perfectl;y placed and knowledgeable enough to make a very informed choice of breeder and parent stock for a puppy to show! :D
