Hi,
I recently become the proud owner of a new pup - however since we have had him, our elder dog has started bolting down her food - a pack of naturediet is now gone in about 2-3 seconds (the dogs are fed in separate rooms so it's not as though she has to eat quickly for fear that the pup will take the food) as soon as she's finished she starts whining and scraping at the door to the room where the pup is fed trying to get to his food.
She has always been a very greedy dog, but i'm worried by her eating it this fast she could cause herself harm (even chicken wings etc are now gulped down in chunks rather that being chewed.
As an aside, is Naturediet okay to freeze? She eats frozen food slightly slower but still swallows it in chunks as soon as she can break them off.
All advice greatfully received.

When dogs have to compete for food they will eat faster :D Relax, it is perfectly normal and perfectly safe. Dogs do not chew, (they have not flat molars for this pupose) they are designed to bite, crunch and swallow; in the wild resources are scarce, they are designed to be able to gorge and fast for this purpose; as they are hard wired for this no amount of thinking "he knows he gets fed twice a day" etc will change the dog's perspective.
You can freeze naturediet.
However, except in hot weather it is more natural for them to eat food at room temperature etc.
Really do not worry what you are seeing is perfectly normal natural dog behaviour, if she eats too quick she will just reacquaint herself with it and enjoy it all over again ;)
